Hiyas, I recently started again, being gone for awhile, wanted some input on the Inquisitor or Warden (Melee Specced). The search doesn't show much input since the expansion and I just wanted to know a little how either class is doing lately.

I have some friends playing with me and wanted a healer but I also solo a bit so something that can solo well is a plus. I am very interested in the melee Warden and Inqus builds. Maybe someone can offer some pros and cons to each. I am sttarting out fresh on another server and don't have a lot of funding for my character so keep that in mind also please.

Which would be better soloing? Which would be easier to heal and solo with, doesn't depend on gear changes as heavily for each role. Which is more looked for high end? They both look like great classes, it's a touch choice picking one over the other!

Thanks for any feeback, it would be much appreciated

Pre-SF, the top dps'ing melee spec healer was usually considered to be an Inquisitor. (Though at times, some Mystics would argue otherwise.) If that's a criteria point, then you've got a point in the Inq's favor. (I'm really not sure how much SF has changed this.)

As of SF, a Warden can eventually get a 2nd group cure (at level 81+). However the Inquisitor's mythical weapon also grants them a 2nd group cure, so this is a wash.

Inquisitors wear plate armor, which is the 1st tier of mitigation values. Wardens wear leather armor, which is in the 3rd tier of mitigation values. (Wardens do also have a self buff which increases their mitigation some. However the Inquisitor's CA conversion AA end line also provides a similar benefit.) In this category, yet another point goes to the Inq.

Wardens get a targeted buff (at around 27-28) which can increase someone's weapon skill. The end line ability of the Inquisitor's CA conversion AA tree provides the Inq with an increase in their Crushing skill. Once again, we've got a wash.

Wardens get Spirit of the Wolf for a 20% run speed buff. With AA, it can be increased to 45%. Since Inquisitors don't have a movement buff, the Wardens get a point. (Though technically speaking, a good mount would make this a wash.)

I could go on and on. Between having played both healers in a melee spec, I'd say hands down that an Inq has been more enjoyable for me. Inquisitors tend to be more offensively aggressive than a Warden, have more debuffs, and enough control effects to allow them to handle various situations. Though one of the most important things when deciding between the two classes is deciding which healing mechanic you prefer. If you prefer the HOT (Heal Over Time) method, then it really doesn't matter what an Inq provides. The same goes with favoring the Reactive style of the Inquisitor.

Thank you for the reply I am sort of leaning towards the Inquisitor, it sounds better than what I was hearing so far- Which made me also consider the Warden. Though asking around I have gotten so many mixed answeres, I just decided to ask here. Both healing styles seem interesting. I'm also curious if one better for groups than the other?

Again, healing depends on so many factors. What is your personal style? What is the group makeup? A warden is going to be casting heals much more often than an inquisitor due to the nature of their heals (over time) as opposed to the inquisitor's reactive heals (heals incoming damage to a certain amount, for a certain number of triggers).

I have one of every healer (except defiler) raised to at least level 80. Warden isn't a bad soloer but has to be more careful picking fights. Leather armor isn't that tough. My inquisitor of course uses the steadfast cleric AA line to be able to simply stand and cast heals while mobs are beating on him. He does a ton of damage with his combat arts and autoattacks (and yes the warden does have CAs also).

It's really a toss up as to what you like. Sometimes the warden's runspeed buff, evac, and ability to put up a port to many places is a great help. The Inquisitor doesn't have these but has odyssey, a "send home to bind point" cleric spell that uses odyssey stones sold by the class trainer. Can be used on self or anyone else in group or raid.

I've played many healers over the years with different styles since Everquest. Really it's all fun to me as long as the healer can preform efficently as the others. I left WoW (still heal in Everquest on occasion) recently and some of my healers outshined others but had dps specs I didn't enjoy. So, I want to play up something that does well in groups healing and is good to solo with too.

My inquis is now 20 so I may just stick with it. My Warden is 10, playing it up some more to get a feel for it. I didn't know about odyssey being able to cast on self also, that is really nice! Thanks for the insight, the Inqus sounds pretty well rounded.

Oh- I also read Inquis get a fun spell pet. I love fluff, I can't seem to find any pics around for one though. Can anyone describe it?
