One thing I've noticed about the Kobolds in SF is that they've been downplayed significantly. The Slobberjaws are probably the largest group of them still around, and as I understand it, have been reduced to barely enough intellegence to understand that they're better off in a group, but nothing more. Whatever happened to the Warrens and the clans of Kobolds who represented a fair nuisance to Paineel and Stonebrundt Mountains? They used to worship Rolfron Zek, the Forlorned God, but had the same level of intellegence as the Kobolds in Steamfont Mountains. The Staff of Observers HQ is shows they're smart enough to use some more threatening forms of magic.

Lets look at that too. It's clearly established that Faydwer now has a higher presence of Kobolds thanks to the Horde being released from the Underfoot. Back in EQlive, the presence of Kobolds in Steamfont and Innothule Swamp was never really explained. They just happened to be there.

On Odus however, it was eventually explained they all lived in the Warrens, which more or less established itself as the home of Kobolds all over the world. They established leaders and religious figureheads... as much as thier society would allow, anyway...

What happened? I know they were affected by the Ulteran ritual, but what about The Warrens itself? Certainly it wasn't just wiped off the face of Odus without there being some evidence left behind.

Some of what happened is explained in the "Digging in the Dirt" HQ, ... where the archeologist in Moonfield partial explains that the shift into Ultera really destroyed alot of their intelligence and made them the barely sentient beasts they are now.

Which is odd,.. since the shift into Ultera made the Gruenach goatmen and the Hua-Mein pandas MORE intellgent while devolving the Warrens kobolds

There's always the "it's in the big broken stuff between the continents" theory, but that's total guesswork. I've seen nothing mentioning specifically what happened to it.

Digging in the Dirt does claim that the Slobberjaws USED be be run by another clan that they beleive had died out in the shifting/rending...you find like 1 cave of them and they are fairly intelligent having a 'king' and some leadership.

and yeah there is evidence in game and in the quest that claims the Shadowedmen/Void took to the kobolds first as thier ticket into Odus, and foudn them woefully inadequate. they apparently coudl not withstand the mental/physical stress of being processed.

there are shadowedmen in the highlands with slobberjaw 'pets' and there's a void beast/void touched erudites using the slobberjaw for excavation minions neat the gardens. and apparently disobediant or useless ones are killed judging from all the dead bodies around the Void beast named.

As to the Gruengrach...they weren't effected but the shift. they are beings from the Plane of Nightmare, summoned by a Erudite looking to make his own personal army...he's dead now after losing control of them, and the Gruengrach have since kinda of just shoehorned themselves into the local area.

though yes, the Hua Mein did 'evolve' from the Feedback.

Also wern't they used more as a general labor force than strictly a military force?

Reminds me what is up at all those wasted map places that you can not get to at all? Perhaps parts of the Warrens are there?

if i remember correctly a massive wave hit odus after the war as the gods were withdrawing. so maybe alot of the kobolds drowned in there cave or maybe they are on small islands where odus used to be on norrath. all i want is odus to be returned to norrath cause laggin off the brige on kerra isle is where 50% of my deaths happen

FYI, there's an HQ not cataloged in Heritage Quest Timeline on EQ2i (I moved once I discovered this) named "The Flames That Cannot Die", and I belive the reward is the glowing orb dropped in Warrens in EQLive. But why the orb appeared in Vasty Deep?
