Subject line says it all really. What is the point of the support forums, much less SEVEN of them?

First of all they are not immediately obvious to the casual visitor, being hidden in a sub-tree.

Secondly, there appears to be no regular SOE customer support presence.

In other words, it isn't really a "technical support" forum with TSRs and coders helping us out. What it is, is a "mutual support" forum where we attempt to help each other out the best we can. Obviously that will lead to frustration as even if we can pinpoint the reason for a problem there is nothing we can do about it.

Can I suggest that the "Support Forums" are amalgamated into a single "Technical Support Forum" placed on the front page of the menu and suggest TSRs visit regularly to address important issues. This would go a long way to repair the broken fences of the relationship between SOE and its subscribers. Less discussions about "cookies" and more about the fundamentals of this game. When you sold our details on your database some time ago, one of the facts to come out of that was that the average age of the EQ2 player is quite a bit higher than other MMOs on the market. Please treat us like the adults we are and stop acting in such a casual condescending way towards us by ignoring the issues we have with the game we pay you to play. If we weren't here, neither would you be.

Support forums should be just that, an arm of technical support. If you don't have the the neccessary skilled employees to fulfill that function then you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Greetings,

I'm sorry that TSR responses have been less common recently. I try to spend as much time as possible answering forum posts but my primary responsibility is answering e-mails and we've been absolutely swamped since the expansion release. I certainly wouldn't say that the support forums are useless, though. Even when I'm not able to post we have some very helpful community members such as Wingrider that do their best to help people with common issues.

Generally speaking, though, if you have a serious technical issue then you are better off contacting our support line directly through phone, e-mail, or chat. The following link contains our contact information in case you need it:

http://help.station.sony.com/cgi-bi...p?p_faqid=10404
