I recently downloaded the Station Launcher, and used it to install EQII. This isn't the first time I used this method and it has failed, but I keep thinking that maybe if I reinstall it THIS TIME, it'll magically work. Too bad the world doesn't run like that.

Anyway, I use Microsoft Windows XP, and my system meets and excedes the minimum requirments for the game. When I try to lauch, I get an error with the title:

"EQ2 Client Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Error Signature:

AppName: everquest2.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.1 ModName: everquest2.exeModVer: 1.0.0.1 Offset: 00ae3bf0

I can't copy the error report because it won't let me click on the bugger and highlight it. Anyway, since this is close to the fourth time I'm getting this annoying error, can someone please assist me? Thank you.

I would love an answer to this. This has been haunting us forever and we've exhausted every possible option that's come our way.

Are you using any type of firewall on that computer? If so, please open the exception list for your firewall and delete any entries that contain the words Everquest 2, EQ2, Launchpad, or Voiceservice. Then rerun the patcher(right click an run as administrator if using Windows 7 or Vista). Whenever prompted make sure to select 'allow'.

In many cases this issue is caused by a firewall blocking the voiceservice application in the background, causing the game to crash. Let us know if the problem persists after trying those steps.

Okay. Here's everything we (Novawolf and I) did:

- Made sure the firewall would allow EVERYTHING that had anything to do with Station Launcher or EQII.

- Tried to launch the game from both the SL and the actual game .exe (crashed both times)

- Tried to run both as the administrator. (crashed both times)

- Tried to disallow everything that had to do with EQ and Station Launcher to see what would happen. (Crashed.)

Thank you for your time in this. I really appreciate it. If you know anything else that we can do, I'll try it. U.U

Update: Her and I have actually tried getting the game to run on another computer entirely, a SEPERATE entity that also runs Windows XP, but continues to meet and exceed the minimum requirements for the game. It even surpases that of the previous machine.

Again, we've followed all directions given to us in this thread, on this new computer, with no notable changes in performance.

I suppose it is worth noting, however, that the game window opened for a split second, and then crashed.

Please, if the game is simply not compatible with Windows XP operating systems, just tell us so we can put it to bed.

I too am having a problem like this. I only started my trial earlier today, but cannot get the game to work. After almost 5 hours of playing with my firewall and admin options, i finally made it to the character selection screen. I got very tired of waiting for those 60 mb of info to download (went up and down constantly) and made a dark elf shadowknight. Whenever i try to enter the game world, i get an error that says it could not create the map or realm or somesuch thing (probably due to the download) but when i sit and wait for the DL it crashes and says the client has stopped responding. I have tried this with no firewall, with firewall exceptions (which i have never been prompted for, i had to manually enable them in Panda IS's options) and in compatability mode for XP SP2. I am on Vista Ultimate 32-bit with a 2.4 ghz quad core Intel processor and 4 gb of RAM if that's any help. My graphics card is an ATI Radeon 3650 HD with the latest drivers.

An hour and a half since my first post. Still cannot run the game using any, all or multiple combinations of fixes i have found and tried myself. First thing in the morning i'm uninstalling it and forgetting it until i think it will, as reya put it, magically begin to work. Until then, good night and good luck.
