So I've come back to EQ 2 after a fairly long absence and have decided to pick up playing an inquisitor. My plan thus far is to start off as a templar, get to 22 and quest out Qeynos/Kelethin good areas, betray over, then quest out all the evil areas and continue progress like normal (likely with a boatload of AAs to boot). I intend to do this semi casually, but I still like to think in terms of the long run.

With that in mind, I have a question I'd like to bring up about the races. My two main choices thus far are wood elf and high elf. I like wood elf for the tracking (played a troubadour, I feel naked without it) and the variety of racials, including double attack. High elf, however, has Focused Prowess which may itself be a clincher. My question is, how much does it (and the erudite equivalent of Theoretical Improvements) play in the long run? I plan on crafting too, so wood elves have a good portion of useful passives (move speed/gather faster), but I am concerned about how much more a high elf/erudite would heal over me.

Minor point, I know, but curiousity demands I figure out the difference. Thank you ahead of time.

Given that Arasai are my darling race I have no idea what Focused Prowess is...I assume its a wisdom thing?

With the last racial revamps, wood elves have some decent racial traits set for healing... but then, so do high elves...One thing you may want to take into account as a casual Inquis is how you want to spec your aa. If you decide to spec battle cleric, you don't rely so much on spellcasting. Half elves, for example, don't have the extra healing... but they get some decent racials that make them good melee-spec healers, and thier innate are close to a wood elves... faster harvest, tracking... a choice for added run speed. A few other races like that too...Really though, it's purely an astetic choice. The differances in racials aren't really enough to where it makes a huge differance. I imagine that sometime at random, the racials will get tweeked yet again.

Until then, welcome back and have fun with your Inquis...

Most excellent choice of class. Welcome to the community!

When you get to T9, are you planning on running Battlegrounds much? If so, then you might want to go for a race with racial runspeed and track over a race with slight PvE bonuses that will easily be replaced by gear. It's not much, but that extra 5% is a big help when you're trying to keep out of arm's reach from the enemy. (Kerra runspeed is evil. EVIL. Not that they're on your list.) I almost always keep tracking open when I'm in the bigger BGs, just to see which teammates and enemies are around me and who's standing between me and this that or the other person.

So if you're going to BG at all, I'd go wood elf over high elf. ^.^
