I know that they released EQ1 for mac back in the day. Why dont they release it for mac today? or just develop a digital download for it. I currently play on bootcamp and would love to just stick on my mac software.

The project was farmed out to a 3rd party company and has never had a expansion update since the project was released to the end user.

WELL that just stinks. Oh well, this will have to do for now. do you think that it will ever update for this? the directx support and everything. I know many online games are duel platform, such as world of warcraft. when I used to play that was an appealing factor. I think EQ2 could get many more players if it was supported.

Good thing I found this post. I'm about to purchase an iMac and since I'm an EQ2 player on the PC, this will make me re-think my purchase now.

If you are buying a new imac, then EQ2 will run just as well as on the PC. you just need to run bootcamp(already comes with the computer) and install windows on it. when turning on your computer you hold the option key and then windows will boot. on the new macs come fantastic video cards and processors. EQ2 runs fantastic on my macbook pro laptop actually. the reason I asked this question was because I like the apple interface better then windows, but booting up in windows isnt that bad. Honestly if you are going to get a mac, get it. dont let the fact that eq2 can play on the apple side of your hard drive. just split it up when you get it, install windows, and then you will be able to run everquest 2 as fast as ever.

I own a macbook pro, but wanted a new iMac to replace my PC (which I use for work as well), I just can't do the dual-boot portion (sometimes work calls when I'm playing EQ2, lol). I was hoping Sony had come out with a Mac version of EQ2.

WoW on the other hand, plays nicely on my macbook pro

Cedega has a PC emulator version for Macs, I think, I could use Cedega and play EQ2 directly on the iMac without the dual-boot process.

ah well I played WoW for a bit liking the Mac feature for it, but after a while I just decided how much I like EQ2 and I then decided that it would be worth the hard drive partition to play it. I never felt good about emulators.

I currently run a MBP 17" and love playing EQ2 on it via boot camp with no issues, I thought about upgrading the MBP to the new iMac 27" but some people in tech where I work at said the 512mb ATI graphics card will not run in full resolution with higher FPS. I'm better off staying with the MBP 17" for better game play.

Does anyone play EQ2 on there new iMac 27" with good FPS??
