Anyone playing a caster mystic ?

<p>Hi,</p><p>Subject says it all. Is anyone playing a caster mystic ? I was melee since AA alowed us to spec melee. I am currently 83 and i am thinking to go more for casting. IMy main is a 90 warden and melee is fun with the warden. But with the Mystic i more and more think i want to be a caster <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p><p>Pros, cons ? Any hints ? Stupid idea ?</p>

Stupid idea ?</p></blockquote><p>Instead you can look at the pros and cons of playing a melee mystic, to see what you're missing out on:</p><p><span style="color: #00ff00;">Melee Pros:</span></p><p><span style="color: #00ff00;">1) Better DPS while you heal, by chaining lots of quick-casting CAs instead of slow casting spells</span></p><p><span style="color: #00ff00;">2) Better DPS in general with CA damage a bit better than Spells</span></p><p><span style="color: #ff0000;">Melee Cons:</span></p><p><span style="color: #ff0000;">1) Must be close to the mob to use CAs</span></p><p><span style="color: #ff0000;">2) Slower recast on CAs than on spells (for the most part)</span></p><p>Overall, I'd say there is no real advantage to going truly spell based mystic; when you have points in the mystic CAs, you can still cast the spell versions of your abilities, so in any situation where you would not want to use CAs, you can still cast spells...so you will lose DPS going spell based and it will be harder to DPS while you heal</p><p>I haven't been a spell based mystic since, oh, maybe, EoF <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" /></p>

<p>Ok <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p><p>Since Weapon mastery buffs the pet too i ll keep them and waste AA into INT for a while to see the difference while leveling up with solo quests. With the NGE dog its just more fun to slack and let the dog tank while throwing a debuff and two dots.</p><p>Will respec to sane at 90 then <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p>

<p>Something I have noticed, correct me if I am wrong please. For the CA versions of our spells, the better the spell (adept, master w/e) does not improve our CA's the slightest. So our new upgraded spell attacks can stay apprentice and we hit the same with our CA's. Though I cant tell if lvling increased them, getting the newer versions did or switching all my damage to Wisdom but my CA's hit harder now than they did at lvl 80.</p>

Though I cant tell if lvling increased them, getting the newer versions did or switching all my damage to Wisdom but my CA's hit harder now than they did at lvl 80.</p></blockquote><p>Correct you CA's if spec'd scale by level and will always do more damage than the master version of a spell in your current tier.  It was the first reason I went with CA spc, it was simply cheaper.  Now I have Plat so its not as big and issue but that is a bonus.</p>
