I was getting the same error message as the original poster - the game would start patching and then fail. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game. Now the Station Launcher cancels patching as soon as it starts. The log shows a few errors:

ERROR StationConfigurationLoader - Unable to load configuration from : StationConfiguration.xml 2010-03-09 02:49:05 [3000] ERROR StationConfigurationLoader - :0:0 error: An exception occurred! Type:RuntimeException, Message:The primary document entity could not be opened.
yeah i was having this same issue after the patch tues. http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=473464. others were having issues too but the only ones to get a solution were those with streaming client.

so i uninstalled and reinstalled sentinal's fate after missing out on 2 days of playing >< and dled the updates thru the station launcher like normal and it worked, i was able to play problem free last night. so i start the launcher today hoping everything is still fine and of course its not. the problem is back again same exact message as the OP. so i'm gonna do the uninstall and reinstall again. i really hope they can figure out how to hotfix w/o losing an obviously important file.

First, if you are using Windows 7 or Vista on that machine, then please follow these steps to ensure compatibility with the game:1. Right click on the program launch icon2. Left click on "Properties".3. In the new window that pops up click on the "Compatibility" tab.4. Under "Privilege Level" make certain that the box next to "Run this program as administrator" is checked.5. Click on "Apply" then click on "Ok".6. Right click on the icon and select "Run as Administrator"

If the problem persists after those steps then it seems likely that a firewall is blocking one of the files used by the game. Please open the exception list for your firewall and delete any entries that contain the words Everquest 2, EQ2, Launchpad, or Voiceservice. Then rerun the patcher(right click an run as administrator if using Windows 7 or Vista). Whenever prompted make sure to select 'allow'. That should refresh the firewall entries and will correct the problem in most cases. Let us know if the problem persists at that point.
