Bristlebane Day is now active on Test and Test Copy!

Jesters, thieves, bards and fans of mischief are invited to enjoy the adventuring and new crafting festivities that surround Bristlebane Day! You never know what riddles, laughs and pranks are to be found during this enjoyable time of year. Celebrators are present in every home city, and the oddest of objects have been spotted in Antonica, The Commonlands, Darklight Wood, Timorous Deep and Greater Faydark!

The event is currently set to run 3/30/2010 through 4/11/2010 on the live servers, with special events only occurring on 4/1/2010.

The content that only occurs on 4/1 has not yet been activated. I will activate it later, as to help minimize confusion over what quests, harvestables, etc. are available at what time.

Please assemble any feedback and bugs that you may find in this thread. Thank you, everyone!

As of 3/15/10:

The 4/1 content is now activated on Test and Test Copy! Check out Enchanted Lands for the new quest.

As of 3/26/10:

The 4/1 content has been deactivated on Test and Test Copy. Thank you to everyone who helped test this event!

~Kaitheel

Editing this as I go!

Still early in the crafting, but so far I've noticed that the recipes on the Stove and Keg seem to be using Brewday counters. Those are bowl of party dip, Bristleberry pie and goblin tasted apple.

Also, the four recipes on the Work Bench use sculpting, but I'm assuming this is intentional?

Just got the Grand Prankster's Mischief counter... very cool there!

Got another Grand Prankster's Mischief the second time but didn't get an additional item... just ensuring whether or not this is expected to happen sometimes?

Regarding the four Rivervale crafted items... since they use the sculpting technique, should they be on the Woodworking Bench instead of the Work Bench?

The Brilliant Bristlebane Day Robe is very nice, but the colors make me think of Frostfell. Not really sure what to suggest for that.

All of the house items placed just fine. It would be nice if the cabbage could shrink down a notch or two more if possible. The armor all appears okay when worn, too.

Every crafted house item has a description regarding a heavily embroidered tapestry creaking and groaning as it sways in the wind.

The Brilliant Bristlebane Day Boots state "A pair of gloves perfect for calebrating Bristlebane Day!". First, gloves should be boots (the other two brilliant items state the correct piece); second, celebrating is misspelled.

All of the Galvanized Paper Plate armor have the word "galvanized" misspelled as "glavanized" in their description.

Every Galvanized Paper Plate armor piece states "A coat with the appearance...". I'm assuming that should vary based on the type of armor that it is.

I guess Cyliena said everything on the crafting part.

Apart from the crafting items, are there any new things? The Tin Metal protection is not repeatable. Ratical is. I don't see anything new?

Is there something different about the [row of Rivervale candles] cause they appear to be the duplicate of Vale Briarwood Candelabra in the dressing room. Haven't figured out how to get the raws for this event, yet. Just logged on for it.

I'm so loving the Cabbage & the Green color for the plate. Though, I wish it had been a chain graphic .. maybe next year?

Ya know what Bristlebane day needs? Jugglers. Someone needs to slip a note to the LoN Art Team 'cause I'm sure they'd love to have a unlimited version while the event could have a charged-limited version. Someone 'juggling' colorful balls would be mostly just be a particle effect, really. Just with hands held out..

Edit Add: The GREEN Galvanized armor requires Iron as a crafting raw, which is a T2 item, but the rest of the ingredients and recipes all call for T1 items (ie: should be Tin)

hrm .. or you guys are doing that on purpose. Since the ORANGE version requires Tin and a T2 Orange. And, the Cabbage requires a T2 Carrot instead of a T1 Baubbleshire Cabbage. And, several of the other items are mixed as well but some are proper full T1 raws. ... I suppose it makes as much sense as anything else during Bristlebane Day.

Edit Add More: .. The Rivervale Butterchurn, candles, flasks & Keg table .. not only do they use Sculpting skill on the Workbench, which should be the Wood working Table or Artificing skill on the work bench, but they also use T1 Provo fuels, should be either Coal or Sandpaper.

'Tis hard to know what to bug on a day celebrating Oddity.

Crafting seemed more appealing that bouncing to and fro between Antonica and EL.

I uploaded a picture of the Rivervale candle row (that's the only item that changes name from its recipe name, it seems)... I'll have to login my carpenter to compare it to the Vale Briarwood Candelabra. From the eq2traders picture, they do seem identical.

edits: Comparing them currently on Test Copy with my carpenter, and in the dressing room they look exactly the same. Heading out to snag some t4 harvests to craft the vale one and set it side-by-side.

Confirmed, they are identical in appearance. The only differences is that the vale Briarwood candelabra is a brighter light source and its default size is smaller.

I only had a couple minutes so far to play with Bristlebane stuff but I noticed that the Jester's Superior Gardens in Enchanted Lands are yielding not only Bristlebane items, but also Brewday, Nights of the Dead, and Frostfell items. I can kind of see this as being a joke, but the Frostfell harvests are totally useless without the Frostfell zone stations and there are so freaking many of them. I would definitely suggest taking those off the harvest table for these bushes. Or is there a use for these during Bristlebane Day that I have missed?

The crafting components of previous events (Frostfell, Erollisi Day, NoTD, etc.) aren't used for anything new. When it's a quest that can be done fairly quickly and easily, sure one day is ok. However, when you are talking about a timesink like harvesting one day will not be enough. I want a big bag to hold all of the holiday trade skill raws but its just not possible. The maximum bag size is either 44 or 48. Not sure which but I remember reading about it being raised last year sometime. I would like the alternate currency to change to a system like what EQ1 has. Where you can just have a page in your profile which lists how much of each currency you have and you can withdraw individual tokens if you want to be able to trade them. Special events where the tokens are not coming back should stay regular items and only tokens which are will be used again later on should be added to an alternative currency page. Also to go along with that would be nice if you could turn the love notes and candies into something generic that you can stack together but still use in the trade skill recipes.

I have 50 on each of my characters, still, because we never got a response one way or the other about whether the title would become available (since none of the servers managed to complete all the spires) and then the merchants were gone. I have 22 alts... so I have about 1100 tokens sitting around doing nothing right now. Being able to swap them for something else, even if it's to turn them into one of the base items for holiday crafting, would be nice.

A [Seriously Big Bag] that could hold ALL special harvests would be fantastic.

Being able to put personal harvest depots in the GH would be fantastic, too. I understand why it's not being done (Domino doesn't want to step on the feet of the GH people) and accept that. I would still like to have an alternative from the GH people, like: Make the harvesting depot bigger. It's already to small to hold 9 tiers of harvests. Or add a second, special, depot for all the special harvests. And one for body parts and collectibles while you are on it...

Back to the [Seriously Big Bag] - how about making it a quest reward for a long Harvesting Cloak like and hopefully interesting (Nerd warning!!!) Signature Quest. It should be able to hold at least 100 slots ( anybody done the math on how many special harvests we have by now?) of harvested materials only. If you on top of that can make it a appearance pack, too, that would be outstanding. Or go one step further and give us true pack animals with packs of 200+ slot capacity

Purr~

PS: I, too, am still waiting for the Foreign Currency Exchange merchant.

Unfortunately, Rhakos, it is too late to make any changes to the event at this time. But even if it were not, I am not sure I would make previous event recipe books available on 4/1. Getting event specific items (be it recipes or quests) is the perks of logging in during the event. Though, I admit that I have blurred the lines some with the craft components being available for one day, and one day isn't much. This is something that I will have to watch live feedback on and keep in mind for next year, if we do anything similar.

~Kaitheel

Any other time it wouldnt be appropriate and I further agree that recipe books need to stay with their associated events.

Just my 2cp.

I last came back to the world of EQ2 about 2 days after they had their 5 year anniversary (where you could buy all those great looking paintings for your house). I was rather disappointed that there's absolutely no way to get them now (short of the winning picture).

Top 10 winners in both categories will get a complete set of those paintings.

It would sure be in the spirit of Bristlebane to have those nifty lil superior bushies pop up every once in a while in completely random zones on random days. But it probably takes to much to implement that...

Purr~
