View Full Version : Is EQ2 more CPU based or GPU?

When I played on my old rig it was tailored towards the CPU, but started giving pieces to the GPU I believe. I'm curious if there have been any advancements moving stuff towards the Graphics card. Reason I ask is my processor on my new machine hit 56-58*C which isn't bad, but does have me wondering what's going on. *Can post rig specs if needed.*

What type of processor does your new computer have? Intel's i5/i7 tend to run a bit hotter than AMD Phenom II's and for them 56-58C isn't really that high at all. In fact, when you really push all 4 cores it's not unusual to see temperatures in the 80s C.

The game is still mostly CPU limited, with a few exceptions. In some areas if you have GPU shadows on they hog a ton of GPU resources (like Paineel).

Thing I find interesting is games like FO3 and L4D2 run around 45*C to 52*C. EQ2 seems to run hotter towards the video graphics editing program side of things for some reason.

Was using the trial version of Sony Vegas Platinum 9.0 and it pushed my computer to 61*C.
