View Full Version : I got an idea... how about a WHOLE day without patches?!!!

Give us a break why don't you!

It's admirable that you guys are working so hard to fix bugs in the game, and I made an argument before about the particular times you decide to bring the US servers down (which you basically justified by saying you don't want to inconvenience Asian or Aussie prime times) ... but EVERY freeking day is getting a bit much for these patches.

A lot of us play during these hours. Are you going to compensate us for the several lost hours this week alone?

How about just saving the fixes and then just adding them to the weekly patch? Is that to hard? I'm knee deep in new content and there's nothing I have run across so far that couldn't wait a few days to fix (oh wait, I don't play BG - LOL)

It's all fine and dandy to joke about hamsters dying and everything, but seriously, this is getting very annoying and it's not looking too professional on the part of SOE. It leaves the impression that they released a product that was very under tested and unfinished.

here here!

I may be brand new to Everquest 2... i started playing seriously just a few days ago... but each day ive played for the last 4 days, there has been a substantial chunk of downtime right in the middle of my playing hours.

it seems odd that they wouldnt just do a weekly patch... instead of all these dailys.

I can understand if its an immediate problem that needs fixing (like a dupe bug or something) but i dont think that is the case. Im thinking also more testing should have been done perhaps to avoid this patch-fest.

Well past few days was frustrating.. not staying on schedule, perhaps all the patch/fix employees ate too many hotwings and were in the bathroom for an hour or so. But today they are on the ball, its 9:38 AM here and servers are already being prepared to come back up, as server status says they are locked, not down. Keep up the good work guys.

I'm getting the impression that they are treating the release of Battlegrounds as an open beta. They change something, then watch the rest of the day and change something again the next day and repeat. But in betas, people agree to be testers and agree to the frequent patches and bugs etc. I sure as heck didn't agree to be a beta tester for SOE lately and I don't appreciate them doing their testing on my dime. I pay to play, not sit here watching these forums, waiting for the game to come back up.

It is not only the BG's that they are updating. Please stop assuming and spreading that around.

Pretty sure that if that happened, too many people would be complaining that things weren't working right.

Sadly the downtimes that they have seem to effect the least amount of players. It is a pain in the tushie for some of us (notice us, you are not alone in this), but overall it is better then doing it during prime playtime (in general)...

Please stop assuming and spreading that around.

Prove it.

Provide detailed patch notes for every day the server has come done.

And then, just to be fair... ask a dev the reason why those particular bugs were important enough to bring the servers down on a daily basis. As far as I have seen , the most pressing issues all have to do with BG and it's effect on all the servers

- Massive lag

- People getting stuck inside BG

- People loosing XP in BG

- People loosing AA in BG or when they leave BG

Those are bugs serious enough to warrent hot fixes right now. I haven't seen a single bug that warranted an emergency hot fix in the PVE part of Sentinel's Fate yet.

None of this changes my feelings I voiced above. That this is starting to look like a beta that we're being forced into participating in.

I know that Kiara has mentioned DB issues in a few of her previous posts. It may be those issues that they are updating. Perhaps they do not have patch notes for behind the scenes fixing of the DB...
