OK, I have tried to figure out the caps or even soft caps for these and what is needed for them to be vs a higher lvl mob. From what I have read all skills are 6.5 x level and that is 585 for SF cap lvl 90.

So I am sitting at over 620 Def and 570 parry solo. I dont have much stat gear atm and I see alot of it droping in SF. I would suggest a way, this is to soe, to know when we caped or close to cap. Shooting in the dark with skill caps is getting kind of old.

If I am missing something, any info would be greatly appericated!

To add, what I have seen in some more research is that there is no cap and 1% over you get 1% more to a soft cap that is still not stated.

Olds of Kith

The cap is 70% for both of these abilities. Hover your mouse over the avoidance number in your persona window to see how close you are.

I'm assuming def/parry count as "Other skills" in this quote but they aren't mentioned anywhere else in the post.

You'll never hit 70% parry or base. Ever. There isn't enough parry gear in all the world to get you close. And even if there was you probably wouldn't want to when you consider how useless it is in raids.

+Parry are kinda irrelevent at this point. Unless its uncontested, SoE has made it pretty useless. Raid mobs really never miss anymore, they seem to bypass all that stuf..

Yup; its pointless witch leads me to wounder why they think adding +Def/Perry on tank gear makes it so good they don't have to put other stats on them.

If so, how about vs a lvl 98 raid mob?

and lastly, any words on Hate gain and transfer caps, still at 50% in SF?

Thanks.

But, if your goal is raid tanking, then your +parry and base avoidance are more or less irrelevant, as both are contested and will give you very little return for your investment. However, as a plate tank, know that 100% of your block is uncontested. Any increases you get there will help you out far, far more than +parry or +defense. Agility increases your base avoidance, but this value is contested so its not really worth it, and it doesn't give much critmit for the investment. I would never choose agi over str. +deflection won't do anything for you, so the only real way to increase this number is via +block chance (formerly shield effectiveness). Pump that as high as you can. It seems like you're getting very close to the mitigation cap, so the only real way to get a solid return increasing your mitigation is with items with +mitigation increase on them.

Again though--I'm a monk, and you'll probably be better off asking a good plate tank for advice!

I can confirm that def and parry are uncapped. On beta before they announced uncapped skill caps I was trying to figure out [Removed for Content] was going on as I "capped" these stats and yet was gaining bonuses from over capping. They announced that skill were uncapped and it made more sense.

Here is my suggestion on ranking improvements for a brawler. Avoidance=Shield protection/minimum block>block chance>parry>deflection skill>defense>AgiPhysical Mitigation=Mitigation % increase>%Damage reduction># damage reduction>+mitigation/physical resist

+parry and + def are not completely useless in raids but the return you gain from them is so heavily reduced the effects are virtually unnoticable.
