I was recently questing in 'the Hole', getting rat tail updates. I was in a group and the Paladin just ran around and body pulled all big groups of rats into a big pile. The problem was that every time I precasted EU durning the pull I'd end up with all the hate before the tank finished pulling and would die. All I ever did was precast EU with no spells after the fact and I was immediately drawing hate.

Anyone else experiencing this? It makes it a huge pain in the (*edited for content) and hinders EU almost into uselessness.

It really needs to be fixed.

That's normal aggro behavior. Casting any kind of beneficial spell will draw aggro, even Elemental Unity.

I've never pulled that much hate from it before. I'm sure I've generated hate with it, but never enough to pull a group of mobs off the tank.

Tell your tank to taunt the mobs......

Any casting of a buff will pull a mob that is only aggroed from a proxy aspect since body aggro is really no hate or very little that anything you cast over rides it.

Saying EU is useless because of any hate associated with it is silly....if your having a problem then dont precast it.....just cast it after the tank has true aggro then instead of proxy aggro.

Yeah lets be careful about the hyperbole. Just cause some tanks are bad at pulling that sometimes the limited amount of aggro generated by EU pulls aggro and causes problems by no means makes the spell anything close to useless. Just either find a tank that is more competent or time EU differently. Mind you alot of things can pull aggro in this manner too, I've died because of my asphyxiating sorcery clicky before because of the minute amount of aggro it generated.

Happens but is by no means an issue unique to EU or even really a huge factor most of the time.

Relax guys, I was giving my tank the benifet of the doubt.

He very well may not have been taunting right away, but I did wait until he had all the mobs on him. And in group situations, if you can't precast EU durning the pull, it IS useless because the group adds die too quick for it to have much affect. Not every aspect of this game is done in a Raid setting.

That's why I brought it up on the board. To see if anyone esle was having issues. If not, I'll assume my tank wasn't taunting before I buffed.

Well I precast it alot and I almost never have this problem. However this problem as I said is related to beneficial spells in general. If this is happening to you, I guarentee your healer in that group is having a very good time as well. I precast EU in heroic content all the time and with most tanks imo theres never a problem which is why I think its an exaggeration to say the spell is in danger of being worthless =P And I'm talking heroic, not raid content here.

Also if you can complete the EU cast before he actually does the pull, you shouldn't generate aggro from it if you do have one of those tanks who cant hit the mob with anything at all for some reason. If the adds die as fast as you say as to make casting it mid fight worthless, you certainly don't need the whole uptime or possibly even half of it for that fight anyways.
