View Full Version : SOE you want to see happy conjurors? (New Pets)

I don't care if it's from the earth or not, give us a meandering overseer (gazer)! I don't think anyone would complain. Even though the cat isn't a mage, I think folks are getting used to that, but this tree has to go. Please get rid of the tank pet. Hell, at this point, give us a pink chicken in a tutu, but please give us a different skin.

A pet class is different than any other class, and from what I can tell the general consensus is that we can't stand these new pets. Given that we pay subs and the point of this game is people having fun and enjoying themselves, what would it hurt to fix this for us? If most conjurors are generally unhappy with the pets (given the necro pets are pretty sick, and this is coming from someone who betrayed to conjy) why not fix this for the people who stick around in your game? We become attached to our pets (some of us crazy summoners) and I just don't think the majority of us are happy with the new choices. There are even a lot of folks unhappy with the cat, but personally, I can live with that, but our tank is our bread and butter, and who we spend most of our time with soloing, and I think we should be given a different option.

And if you really, really, really want to see us happy? Truly want us to come into the fold with this getting closer to the community thing? Make our mage pet the Theerian Blademaven. Then we'd be on par with the necros.

Let us vote, throw some suggestions around, something, but in the end it's just changing a mob assignment and skin for a class. Please give us something else. Anyone else concur?

That is a serious downgrade in appearance compared to the fiery displacer beast we have now. I'm sick to death of void beasts and shadow men. The mage cat on the other hand is pretty fresh and new and frankly doesn't look bad. It has good animations and is the most interesting looking of all of our pet options. It should last most of the expac without getting too old or tired.

So in my opinion, I'm against any changes to the looks of the mage pet. I don't care what happens to tank/scout but if you ask me scout pet is our worst pet currently, Retextured t8 tank pet yay. But meh all I'd like is for mage pet to stay the same. I know im not the only one who is fond of it either.

As I said, I think we can get used to, live with the cat, but the tank is horrid. Not only that, he's small and we can't tell what he's tanking. As a solo tank class we should be able to see where our tank is in a mass of mobs, and what it is tanking. Not to mention, it's a tree stump. When tanking multiple mobs, how do we know what it's tanking visually? Normally we know what the front of our tank looks like, if it's facing a mob, it's tanking it, etc. But with a tree, all sides look like the front.

I think the mage pet looks cool, I like it quite a bit.

The tank pet looks silly, but I kinda like it anyway, don't mess with mr. stumpy!

The scout pet looks like an old tank pet with an aiery texture, kinda stupid but I never use it so meh.

All and all, graphically this expansion has been very win.

Only one I'd change is the air pet. The dust-storm mobs near the stonebrunt encampment would've been a better choice in my opinion than taking the tier 8 tank pet, making it transparent, and then slapping the [T9 Air Pet] sticker on it.

I ussually cast the group Eath Elem illusion anyway so i dont care what the pets look like

would be nice to get upgrades on those fun spells though and have them stay across zones

I like the new cat. I thought I was going to hate it, but my stance has changed. I'm rather fond of it now.

As to the other two... /kick

Ill pitch the same solution I've pitched a few times. Allow us to CHOOSE our pets apperance from a list of apperances. For example, I can summon a mage pet that looks like any mage pet I've had before. Or do a complete revamp and give us a nice nifty picture book of Fire Elementals, Air Elementals, and Earth Elementals to choose from when we summon it. Id love that.

I still miss my lvl 62 Mage pet. Best. Apperance. Ever.

For what it's worth. I asked Fyreflight (since he seemed to answer alot of questions) about possibly implementing conj/necro specific pet wands that would let them use any previous level of pet as an appearance for their pet. He said he was planning on implementing something similiar to that when he had time. So no time table or anything but it seems the devs are at least aware and have some plans to address it at some point. Be it now or 2-3 years from now... anyone's guess I suppose.

That's great, but are we talking a wand you have to buy in the store? This would cost us money and we already pay $15 a month. Honestly, the easiest solution for the two pets is to come up with multiple options and then just have a vote here via a poll. I think all of us would accept the end result. As for the cat, I agree, I think we are getting used to it.

I am now in belief that the tank pet should be a blademaven (earth or not) or a terracotta warrior.

As for the scout, I don't know, but it was fairly cheap to reskin, though the intentions were good. Had it been another cloudy lightning pet, I think people wouldn't have minded.

We're not asking for SOE to spend money on creating new pets. Just give us something cool that isn't a tree that we can't see what direction they are tanking in, and isn't a re-skinned horribad.

One, its not thematically appropriate and two its a shadowman, we've seen so many of those [Removed for Content] things throughout TSO in the three void instances and two void raids that, ugh. Let's just say I'm very glad they seem sparse in this expansion cept the mobs outside the erudin gardens. Really, if they forced us to use that graphic, that would make me more upset than the tree tank. I guess though wouldn't be worse than reskinned tank as scout pet but it would still be almost as bad. Maybe they could add a pet wand with that graphic somewhere, but no shadowmen as conj pets for the love of all thats holy. But for the scout and tank pet's default skins, there is better out there.

As far as how the wands will end up for previous pet graphics, well I have no idea how they'll handle it. I think it would be something you'd put on the conjuror/necro trainers like the pearl reagents and what not. That is the solution I'd do if I were a dev but who knows what'll actually happen. We don't even have a time table or anything, Wands could be in next GU or in two years. It's very much wait and see I'll bet.

Earth/fighter Pet: one of the new bramble horror guys you see at the entrance of tox forest (or bulb guys in VD). Maybe with cooler colors though

Air/Scout Pet: Lightning/air guys you see in the hole in the underfoot area.

Fire/Mage pet: no change, I kinda like it, but not sure what you would change it to.

I agree. I am embarrassed of that tree stump looking thing. In fact, I'm embarrassed for the dev that even thought that that would be acceptable. Earth, I get it...but a petrified tree stump? You could have at least gone with the Boulder Dashers...

Mage pet...a cat. Yay. Not really a mage, but I can live with it.

Scout pet? Or is that the ghost of tank pet past? I don't really know and not like it's even remotely useful enough to cast to care...but the tank pet...I would actually use that...if it weren't so [Removed for Content] stupid.

It saddens me that so much effort was put in to making the t8 scout pet look better, and even though it was worthless to use, at least it looked like a scout.

Did the devs learn any lessons when they decided to 'fix' our last scout pet? Obviously not. Pet characteristics are still pulled from a hat of 'least used textures'.

For the conjy pets i would like to see:

Tank pet: An old terra cotta warrior like the ones seen in Forsaken City.

Scout pet: Something like the Emnity of Narr'Yora in PoA.

Mage pet: A phoenix would be awesome which I doubt would happen.

well it does look like a tree stump but i'm not really sure what it is suppossed to be. the mobs it is similar to in game are caled "ropers". these mobs in game look almost like a pertirfied tree stump but when you get close to them they aggro and attack you. they do drop elemantal lore and legend items and not treant items so my only guess is that it could a an elemental mob that is suppossed to be a petrefied treestump.

That in turn is the same model as the Petrified Ropers in Stonebrunt Frontier, which is wood instead of stone.

And yes...that looks like manure too.

Just saying...bad bad BAD choice of models this time. I will be living in SoL I think to get wings for my shammy and the illusion wands for me to hide Guano Boy there. Ya I can buy the wands on broker but...why should I buy what I can loot?

Am I the only person who thinks the Crystal Guardians (or something similar) in the Roekillik Caves in the Sundered Frontier would have been the perfect (if not the obvious) choice to be the model for the T9 Tank pets? I mean, these are like the EQ2 descendants of the EQ1 Earth Elementals. This mob seems to have been designed specifically with that in mind. What the hell happened over at SoE to screw up this selection so badly? One of the Conji devs lose a bet with the one of the Necro devs?

I think we can all agree that the new tree stump tank pet has got to go! I'm serious SOE! Conjuror's live and die by their pets and have to look at them every moment of every day, unlike the devs (no offense devs!). As for the cat, I still prefer the older T8 and T7 appearances. For the scout pet, I think the T8 was the best looking one.

I know SOE can't make all conjurors happy, but they managed to make us all unhappy! The best and easiest way to remedy this horrible situation is to give us choices of our pet appearances. From what I read on this forum so far I think the one-size fits all solution is to give each pet class multiple appearances, bringing back old appearances as an option would be the best IMO.

If that is too much to ask for, at least give us new single-target pet illusion fun spells. Again, if you can give me the old T8 pet appearances as an option then I'm a happy conjuror! I really am not looking forward to leveling up because of the stupid pet appearances. I personally loved the T8 tank pet master appearance, he was simply perfect.

I'd personally like to be able to use the Myth Pet as an illusion for whatever pet I've got out... because I just loved the look of that thing. If we have the T9 enervated weapon, then it'd be nice to get the "Jade Golem" (I think that's what the Myth Pet was based off somewhere in RoK) as a petamorph spell we can use whenever we want.

It'd make pretty decent fighter pet! Anyway...

For fighter pets, it'd be nice to see something used that's currently in-game. Maybe the Gear of the Ancients model from Maiden's Chamber as a thought? That could work quite well.

Air pet... personally I love what it looks like when plane shifted, but I'm pretty sure we won't get that as a permenant pet. Someone mentioned the Valkyries from Everfrost as a possibility, and I quite like that idea. May not happen though as that apperance is always used as a deity pet (Rodcet Nife I think), so i'm a bit stumped on what to suggest for this.

Mage pet, I like it as it is. Actually, I'm odd and I love running around zones with the Mage Cat Pet out, and Rawritor... so I have 2 of them...

Ya know, I'm a gnome.. and on the short side. So, when I had my T8 earthen avatar pet out I felt safe standing behind him. Named him Bruute because he's a big ol' brute of a guy.

Now I have my T9 earth pet. I've named him Stumpy.

Thinking about it, there's just something wrong with a tree stump look. An earth pet is basically a tank. When I think of a tank I think big and beefy with a lot of muscles, thick armor and a kick a*se weapon. You think of a tank getting the bleep beat out of him and being able to take it and dish our some damage.

With Stumpy I'm afraid if he gets hit I'm going to be showered with splinters!

One thought that came to mind is why not have one model for all T9 pets - like the T8 air pet. So this generic form gets cast and it it's a water pet, we'll see water being drawn out of the sky giving it a shimmery watery look. An air (scout) pet same thing .. generic form but whispy air flows about it... fire (mage) the form is cast then lightening strikes setting it ablaze and it gets the fire look.. and then the earth pet.. the form is cast then dirt rises from the ground and covers it.

Maybe I should rename my pet "Toothpick"
