Alright, so problem is i got the Trial version to see whether or not my comp could do this before i buy it, cause the game looks good. What happens is, I double click the client, it checks the game, then i hit play, then it says STOP and under that "Starting download". Before it can say anything like "% Downloaded" the screen goes black and my cursor changes. Three or so seconds later i get a microsoft error report saying, EQ2 Client Application has encountered a problem and needs to shut down. I tried allowing EQ to bypass the firewall, that makes it so the black screen lasts longer, but ultimately ends with an error report. Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Or who knows, maybe in that time a Tech support person might happen upon this and help me, heres hoping.

Found out something, I looked at the alertlog file and erased all of it, double clicked Everquest2.exe and then when it encountered the problem again i looked back at the alertlog and this was there.

build="SOEBuild=6284L" version="SOEVersionString=2010/2/25 15:37:20" build_type="USER OPTIMIZED" ls_address="none" zone="<None>" loc=" 0.00 0.00 0.00" performance="3" alert="E:liveeq2frameworkvdlsrcVdlErr.cpp(85): (VDL Parser) *buffer*(0) : Error, File not found: runtimevdl/cbaseclasses.vdl"

Emphasis on that part. I tried reinstalling and that didnt work, so what do I do if that has any significance to my problem.

Same thing happening here. It is a real shame that so many are having this issue. I have been trolling these forums for well over 3 hours and trying all of the suggestions and still unable to get this fixed. Maybe I will try installing from the original disks and see what happens. Very very frustrating....

Greetings,

What version of the launcher are you using? If you aren't doing so already, try using the station launcher available here:

http://launcher.station.sony.com/

Also, if you're using Windows 7 or Vista then please make sure to start the program by right clicking and selecting 'run as administrator'. Let us know if the problem persists at that point.
