If someone's already posted on this topic I appologize in advance (I did search, but found nothing pertinent). Seems that when I try to start EQ2 through the launcher, I keep getting an updater error. It gives me the message,

"There was a problem moving C:Program FilesSonyEverQuestIIlp_tempEverQuest2.exe_delta_88 20_305.patched to C:Program FilesSonyEverQuestIIEverQuestII.exe. Please make sure the game is not running. Station launcher will try again in 5 seconds."

At which point it just goes into a loop trying to update and trying again in 5 seconds. Is there anyway I can fix this short of reinstalling? So far I've just been playing the game by going to my Sony EverQuest 2 folder and starting up via the EverQuest2.exe.

Thanks in advance for any input.

MadHatter1...

This is a problem in the updating code for the Station Launcher - re-installing will not make it better. This message appears because it was unable to write the file (EverQuest2.exe in this case).

This could happen if...

The file is locked because it is in use (check the Windows Task Manager)

The file is not writable with your current privileges (stuff within Program Files typically requires admin privileges)

If this worked in the past, you may want to check the Task Manager to make sure the game isn't still running. You can also try manually removing the file and let it download it again.

-dan

Thanks for the help...I'm still kind of new to windows 7 and totally forgot about having to run some programs as admin. I didn't have this problem with Vista because I turned off all that user account control bs.
