I just re-subscribed and after updating both the game and UI logged in with little problem. I am having one odd problem though, when I open the dressing room I am all am wearing and carrying is black. My hair is white, but I look like I have been dipped in tar. I disabled my UI and still have the problem, so it isn't that at least.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

After much testing I have found out it is tied to Anti-aliasing. If I turn AA on at all I get the messed up dressing room, with it off all is well (ugly but well). I can change the complex shader slider to 0 and all is well with AA (VERY ugly, but ok). What change was made in the last couple months to spur this, and how do I go about fixing it?

Thank you

Time for my daily bump in the hopes that SOE has a tech support person somewhere around the office.

Tech support has been backed up a bit with the expansion release... Hopefully soon you can get some assistance.

Perhaps you could try to PM TSR Daniel?

I have the same problem althout it seems to be ok on the test server with shader 3.0 enabled so hopefully when that is live it will sort it.

Wow, time to bump this post again? Time flies when your not getting any resolution from tech support...

Can someone at least tell me if I can cancel my year subscription (only one month in) over lack of help?

Time flies when you need tech support... oh, wait... no it doesn't. Hard to believe I am coming up on a full month of asking for help now. Thinking I will bring cake and ice cream to the anniversary party.

I hate to ask the silly intro questions, but have you been through this:

http://soe-ing.custhelp.com/cgi-bin...hp?p_faqid=1581

Sorry about the slow response but we've been extremely backed up since the expansion release as mentioned earlier.

You mention that turning of Anti-aliasing corrects the problem, but what kind of graphics card are you using? ATI cards have an 'adaptive anti-aliasing' option and that can cause problems with the game. Assuming that is disabled you should be able to use the standard AA, though. Also, what driver version are you using? If you haven't updated your drivers in a while then now would be a good time to do so.

Thank you for the reply Daniel, sorry to come across as demanding. I can only imagine what goes along with an expansion release.

I have a Nvidia GTX 285. I am currently running the most recent driver 196.75 but in the mist of trying to find the issue downgraded to drivers as far back as October, none of which solved the problem. I have also tried all combos of shadows to no avail. The only thing to fix it is to turn AA completely off or complex shader to 0, neither of which are great.

I would be more than happy to post screen shots of what it looks like or my dx info if it would be of any help, I would just like to be able to preview again.

Thank you again Daniel for the driver information! I am all updated but sadly it didn't cure my problem. I am completely out of ideas of what to try at this point.

Here is a picture of what it looks like

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/.../EQ2_000019.jpg

Hi there,

Im having a similar problem (you are not alone!), the dressing room and also inventory character blacks out part or all of the toon and also with all of the UI windows disappearing.

Im running dual Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTX (not using sli)with 197.45 drivers and think its a problem with either the nvidia control panel settings and or the eq2 ui settings.

I use the default UI with a couple of mods, eq2 maps and the auto attack bar. In my eq2.ini I also have the line r_aa_blit 1 added to enable aa.

I've been mucking about with both trying to get things back to normal and I managed to get it to work by removing the above line from the ui managed to get the blackened textures to go away, how every aa isnt working and it looks aweful. Im still working on it now and will update once I make some progress.

Ok, looks like the AA not working was due to me enabling bloom effects (found the information at the following: http://www.guildportal.com/Guild.as...=8957789&Page=1 ) as it uses the same shader.

Looks like ive fixed the problem and i "think" it was the ambiant occulsion setting in the nvidia control panel that was messing it up the dressing room and inventory charater previews and causing the blackened textures. This needs to be set to "off" even tho on is the reccomended setting.

Hope this is of some help to you.

**UPDATE**

Rolling back the drivers (I've used 186) seems to be the best fix for this problem at this time as I've still had intermittent problems with the blacking out with the settigns I tried above.
