Greets,

I bought eq2 last night on a whim at bestbuy. I played EQ1 for a couple years and if I remember right we were raiding POH when I left ... So I never really made it out of twin ykesha's and indicolite. My long hiatus may be from the nightmarish camps for things like j-boots. In between I've played daoc coh/cov wow

I have to admit I've not tracked this game and possibly I bought this for nostalgia's sake. Anyhow, I decided on a wizard and my wife will be playing a fury starting in kelethin. (seemed like a good high dps combo)

I suppose I am looking for noobish pointers in a strange and different but somehow familiar world.

Thanks,

Gaaltien

Have fun, that's more important. Do not try to powerlevel if all others do it. Enjoy the game at your preferred pace and have fun. That's the only advice I can offer. Fury = Wizard+some heals. Both are fun classes to play with.

Here's something: AE spells can be distinguished by it's spell icon background. Backgrounds that are green only effect mobs of that "target encounter" - so only mobs that are linked. Blue backgrounds are AE spells that will hit anything nearby the caster or target.

Also, when deciding what spells to upgrade or achievement lines to go down, there is a difference if you playing on the PvE vs PvP servers. Read the PvP forum threads for ideas if this interests you.

Watch for and do the live events. The next one is Brew day, which might be starting today. http://eq2.zam.com/wiki/Category:EQ2_Brewday Check out the info about EQ2 on zam.com. Lots of info about the game is stored there. http://eq2.zam.com/ Install EQ2maps, it will help you find stuff on the in-game map much easier. http://www.eq2interface.com/downloads/ Try out a guild, look for one that is geared up for your playing style. Sounds more casual. The guild will have amenities and give you folks to learn from. Take up a tradeskill profession.

They each are fun and have their differences (obviously). Now that it's getting hard to find the opposing faction, I'm leaning towards scouts for their track.
