All:

I noticed that "Makeshift Arrow" has been changed to a buff, rather than summoning arrows.

Not having my epic bow, does this mean I'm now forced to buy arrows?

Thanks.

-Arislen

Actually no ranger used this ability as the arrows were crapp. Basically you hav to buy arrows, farm EH for Recipe and seeds or get the new t9 raid arrows

LOL... Well I did.

I only play maybe 2-4 hour a week and with just a small group of 2 other players (both healer types) and I have to tank when roots don't hold.

Didn't see any reason to put out my limited funds to buy arrows so just used the summoned ones.

So, is the answer to my question that I have to buy them now or my bow will be useless?

-Arislen

There was a long standing complaint from a large number of members of the Ranger community that this spell simply did nothing for the vast majority of rangers. It was adjusted during Beta to be something that should hopefully be more useful, or at least provide benefit to a large section of the ranger community.

You ready for the best bit ?

Apparently they have increased the level range before your ammo [Removed for Content] your auto-attack damage. It used to be 10 levels, now it's 20.

So anyone with a T7 ammo summoning bow should use that ammo instead of the T8 or T9 ammo.

Nice one Sony.

Unless you're a Woodworker. Or a Ranger without one of these T7 bows.

So no, woodworkers are not put out (and i am a woodworker), MAYBE for the first part of the expansion until lots of people get new 90 bows but thats pretty much it.

A moot point.

Rangers are now shown to have higher dps thru melee. Paying for arrows only adds insult to injury, roll a caster and 1 shot anyone in full pvp gear when youre only wearing treasured or less! And for FREE!

If using melee auto attack does more than ranged auto attack on top of offensive stance proc and in spite of Focus Aim than you might actually have a point.

Meh, I'm a woodworker and still buy arrows on the broker rather than making them myself. It really is not a good way of making money at all.

I'm another ranger that used summoned arrows. Lvl 80, character 4 yrs old, and I don't have a T7 bow. heck, I don't thinnk I have T-anything anything. I'm a casual player -- Solo PvE, don't Raid, rarely Group. Don't have lots of platinum to buy stacks of arrows.

I'm not worried about being "out-parsed" by other classes, as I don't play to compare or Min/Max. I play a ranger almost exclusively because that's the class I like. Rolling a different class and getting it to lvl 80 because this one isn't playable isn't going to happen -- it takes too long to get to lvl 80 solo. I put a lot of time into Heritage quests, Crafting Cloak, etc. I wanted to enjoy the new expansion, not go back over all the old territory.

As for lots of complaints on the boards about this spell, never saw any. Never saw any DEV requests asking if it should be changed. Really, did they add anything in this expansion that any Ranger wanted?

Theres an entire thread in the beta forums asking for this to be changed. As a matter of fact its the Longest thread on the beta forums talking about doing something else with makeshift arrows.

It was almost always listed when players discussed our "useless" spells. If you haven't seen it then you really weren't looking.

As for changes made yes, they did do several things that we have asked for. While they may not have made the exact changes we wanted they did work on Sniper Shot, Coverage and Makeshift Arrows (which whose imlementation I do like). While I personally had not seen it discussed in the regular boards it was discussed in Beta about the problems of using our AoE CAs due mobs moving into minimum range and that was addressed. We may not be where we want yet, but to say the Dev's did nothing for us this go around is simply ill imformed.

lol harsh sydares but I still have to agree. Figured these casual rangers would have made their own arrows, if they don't play much 1 plat worth of arrows would last them quite a long time.

Are not the merchant bought arrows even better than the summoned ones? TBH if you can't easily afford those than you have problems.
