Which one is overall the better choice? I want to melee and be able to heal myself and do it fast enough to not get super bored while leveling.

I know both have their strong points and weaknesses but am wondering which one is overall the best all around class.

The Inq will probably do a bit more damage while leveling, but the Warden will be far more mobile due to druid rings, SoW and evac Both ware valid choices. In Endgame the Warden might have more healpower while the Inq will increase the DPS for his whole group a lot more.

Hi,

I have a level 71 Inquis and a lvl 77 Warden. I have to say I far prefer the Warden. Since the SF changes, I find that they are very similar damage wise, and tend to kill an equal level mob in about the same time. However the Warden has evac, ports, and 50% run speed, and is alot more fun to play.

Also on my warden I have a 40% chance to heal, when I hit with my weapon, I rarely even have to cast a heal solo, just melee them down healing as I kill. Get kinda fed up having to cast my reative heal before each fight on my Inquis.

Both are great solo toons, but Warden for me is more fun. I also prefer the Warden for group healing too. Have to say I never Raid, so not gonna comment on that.

Both of my toons are maxed for melee btw....

P.S I also for some reason find my Warden never has power issues at all... my Inquis sadly seems to consume power at a silly rate.

@Ghost: Here some help with your Inq: Use the reactive damage shields and a two handed weapon. If you skill the punishment endskill the trigger from the reactive damage spells should keep you at 100% hp. Also the Inq has three very power intensive buffs (Yaulp, Fanatism & Dogma). Try to keep just two up. Yaulp & Fanatism for solo and Fanatism & Dogma for groups. Also you should spec enhanced Fanatism as it is a huge drain otherwise. Also on the good side we have Inquest. Put in on the fastest hitting class (Enchanter > Brawler > Rogue > Warrior > Crusader > Bard > Predator > Summoner > Sorcerer). Yes the Warden is far more mobile without items, but thanks to chokidai / sabertooth / Evac totems or with a fast mount he is almost as fast as a Warden. And a Warden can't buff himself > 100 DPS, >100 haste, >90 double attack and 20% flurry. So while the CAs of the Warden might hit a bit harder the auto attack of the Inq will hit twice as hard as the Wardens.

I will say this, while my warden is and always will be my main. The inquisitor will bring better buffs to a raid group so if you think you might be raiding at all then go with inquisitor. Wardens tend to get sat when raid content gets to be on "farm" status and only 6 healers are needed.

Another thing is that, in SF mitigation/armor type is king for avoiding damage. The warden is not a brawler and will not avoid damage like they will and when we get hit, it can hurt even with our self mit buff a lot more then any cleric getting hit. Plus with the change to sandstorm taking away the short knockdown/stun to any heroic mob and lower and the 29 defense changed to plus 20 to shield block, its not as big a help as it was before when a warden used it to solo and buy time to get a heal at least half cast.

Not sure why armor type is much more important this expansion then previous ones but it does seem to be even for non tanks taking damage from aoe's. Unless there are just a lot more physical damage aoe's then in past expansions which could be too.

If a guild is not using them then the guild is being run a by a noob. It's that simple.

As a raid leader I try to even out the times people can't attend to a raid. But from my experience you can say the following: While a Warden can buff one melee char better then a Inquisitor a Inquisitor buffs all melee classes equally well and also buffs caster by a great amount. Yes the Warden has a higher possible heal output, but as mentioned here if your raid geared up you don't need it any more. So from a RL view the Warden is more useful early on and the Inquisitor later, but both have their place and you don't need the best setup every evening. This is a game and it should be fun and for me it is the responsibility of the RL to ensure that all members of a raid force or guild have fun and that means to not prefer any members if you can do the content with an less optimized raid.
