I'm back from a long EQ2 break, and now i wanna get into the game.

I know i'm a healer at heart (dont mind being a healbot lol). I've tried both warden and templar, back in the days, which i liked both.

Now i want to stick to a single character and wondered which of the 2 would be best for grouping and raiding. I've read around a bit and found that the druids class werent on par with the priest but some are saying they'll get the love in the next expansion.

Well any thoughts you could give would be appreciated

I actually made a comparison between the two when I saw the new changes on beta. I said that Warden could fill a Templar's spot in a MT group pretty well if needed. They will buff as much HP as a Templar, Instinct is a tank's favorite buff besides battle cry, and honestly a Warden is probably a better straight up Healer. Plus they have a massive amount of power regen.

BUT.

The difference between the classes is Stoneskins and Sanctuary. The Templar may not buff hate, dps, or avoidance like a Warden can, but they can make you completely avoid around 15% of all attacks through their stoneskin proc and the shield ally AA. This is impossible to match for a Warden and is <probably> overpowered haha. And Sanctuary can give your group up to 36 seconds of immunity to ALL control effects. This has become especially fantastic the last two expansions, and I'm sure will continue to be great in SF.

Plus as a Templar you will ALWAYS be in the MT group, and if you are a confident healer it always makes the job more fun.

I will add that a Warden can solo about 100x better than a Templar and if you are in a position to DPS in a raid or group you can crank out some very nice digits. Templar will actually see quite a bit of improvement this expansion, but we will see.

So bascily you're saying that both can do the job with each his own little advantages

So i guess i'll try both and see which i enjoy more

A templar would have a higher chance of raiding by a nice margin,

not only because they do wonders as MT/OT healers but also because

they are far less numerous than druids.

I'd say it's more a matter of how much time you can invest in the game,

a heavily geared AA caped templar overpowers a warden whereas a

warden in casual gear is a lot more effective than a templar.

This is because traits such as fast heals, large direct heals, power management,

run speed and ports, all warden traits, can be attained via gear/guilds.

While stoneskin, extra avoidance check, groupwide control immunity,

permanent interuption immunity and hp buffs are harder to come by.

(with the myth you actually bring twice as much group hp than a warden )
