I logged with my laptop into EQ2 today and I can't access my main character, because every single time I try to log in the client crashes with two out of memory errors ("Application ran out of memory when requesting xy bytes (limit 767, current 767) ") when the games tries to load the zone (Antonica guild hall). I played the last time on my laptop 6 weeks ago and there was no problem.

Today I could quest or raid on other characters, that are not in the guild hall. But I can't access my main character in the guild hall.

Crash log:

SOEBuild=6218LSOEVersionString=2010/2/9 16:49:16EVERQUEST2 CRASH LOG=============================================== ================================================== =Unhandled exception EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at 0x00B5092FApplication was trying to write to 0x00000002 Region Begins At: 0x00000000 Region Ends At: 0x00010000 Region Size Is: 0x00010000 bytes Memory Protection: PAGE_NOACCESS (00000001) Memory State: MEM_FREE Memory Type: FreeGame Data: SOEBuild: SOEBuild=6218L SOEVersionString: SOEVersionString=2010/2/9 16:49:16 OS Version: 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 VER_SUITE_PERSONAL VER_NT_WORKSTATION CPU: 1 x86 GenuineIntel 4MHz RDTSC MSR CMPXCHG8 SSE SSE2 DirectX Version: 9.0c Video Card/Driver: [NVIDIA GeForce Go 6600 ] [nv4_disp.dll] 6.14.10.7370 {d7b71e3e-4208-11cf-4e68-763003c2cb35} Time at crash: Fri Feb 12 00:22:05 2010 Login Server: none Performance: 7 Game Uptime: 7152 seconds Position last frame: 837.08, -31.92, 1538.95 Zone name: qey_guildhall_tier3 Time in Zone: 107 seconds Previous Zone name: GameScene::ZR_NETWORKED_ZONE_CHANGE Multi-core support: disabled Low-Memory Mode: disabled Resolution: 1275x768 (59 hz) windowed UI: UI/customLog: Not VF_AUTO Not VF_AUTO Not VF_AUTO Not VF_AUTO Not VF_AUTO Not VF_AUTO Received chat channel update msg...
By any chance, do you remember what room you were in when you crashed? I've had this happen twice on my machine as well and had to load that character on a different box to get him out of the guild hall (I didn't see the crash log, but it sounds identical).

BTW, where do you find this detailed crash log anyways?

The information you posted indicates that the laptop you're using has only 767MB of RAM and no dedicated video memory. You're also logging into the most memory intensive area of the game. If you haven't already, lower your graphics settings to the absolute minimum and see if you can get in. Meanwhile, you might want to send a /petition from another character so that the GMs can get your character moved out of the guild hall.

It has 1 GB, but I think the video card uses some of it. I allready play on minimum settings. And outside of the guild hall it works fine and 6 weeks ago it also worked in the guild hall. When I was in the hall it took forever until items appeared, but at least I could enter the hall.

Well, your graphics card drivers are approaching 5 years old so it would be a good idea to see if an updated version is available. Check the laptop manufacturer's website and install the most updated version of their drivers. Drivers that old could easily be causing this problem.

I play on very high performance and moved virtually all sliders to the left, reduced all textures to minimum, etc. More reduction is not possible.

According to the detailed crash log that you posted above it is not on, which is curious considering that you ran out of memory. Here's how to force it to turn on:

1. Open the directory where EQII is installed2. Create eq2.ini (if it doesn't exist) and edit it3. Add the line:force_low_mem_mode 1

This should force the client to use less memory.
