<p>If you collect 12 of them, in Antonica or Commonlands, and collect the ink well, pile of ash and binding found elsewhere, you will recieve the third book of the Apprentice's notes. </p><p>The first two can now be bought at the sage.</p>

<p>I completed it a couple of times last night (thanks for the /loc on Guk Aurelis!) and the ink well is a clicky on the red side of the South Qeynos mage guild, the binding is sold from the Sage on the blue side, and the pile of ash was on the beach NE of Gorowyn docks, a small non-labelled clicky pile of ash/dirt, basically right below the hillside where the black griffon is for a quest.  I understand that the ash location is different on different servers, but most reports I found were somewhere on the beach in Timmorous Deep nearish Gorowyn, although one also reported it on EQ2i.com as being on the beach in Lavastorm.  Sorry I didn't have time to check where the quill/binding were found on the evil side.</p><p>Oh, and once you have all the items, just right click the binding to complete the book!</p>

<p>I'm sad that I didn't realize there were in game items/semi-quests tied to the forum lore until last night and that I missed out on the first two books. Glad I found it out this time at least.</p><p>The EQ2i has a guide to the "quest" I found after spending an hour or so pestering the poor crafting channel for hints: </p><p><a href="http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Where_did_this_come_from%3F!">Where did this come from?!?</a></p><p>I had no problem as an evil getting in to the Qeynos mage tower and taking the inkwell from there and I found the ash to straight down from the docks in Lavastorm. They look like little piles of dirt. </p>
