Hi! I've been away from the game for many months and have returned just resently. I'm having some ugly shadows appearing on the faces of all my characters now, I never had this problem before. I'm playing with a different graphics card now though, ATI Radeon HD 4870. Do anyone have any idea of what the problem can be?

Here's how it looks:

http://bildr.no/view/585370

hmmm can't manage to get the image to show

Hmm. Unfortunatly i do not know why that happens. I do know why you cant show the image though

Gotta use the direct link. And, -tags arent supported in this forum. Gotta use html...

Here it is:

(bildr.no er stress. Så jeg reuploada det )

Takk for det (I used the insert/edit image option in the message box and inserted the link there but it didn't work )

Those shadows are so ugly and annoying.

When posting a message, click on the tiny little green tree icon to insert a picture. You just need the URL, not the HTML tags with it.

Anyways, I ended up having this problem myself when I upgraded my computer. It now has enough specs to handle everything at maximum quality graphics. While fiddling with the shadow option, I noticed that there are 2 different methods to display shadows.

Being so late at night, I can't remember what they're called, so I appologize for being vague. One option ended up casting shadows on my character and objects around me like a veil- just like what you have there. The other option made the shadows a little less realistic but solved the problem.

( And I did use that tree box and inserted the link without any tags, but the pic only showed up as that square with a red dot in in my post. Very weird )

OK, I canged it to CPU Shadow Volumes instead of GPU Shadow Mass that I was using and that did the trick! No more weird shadows

I'm not sure what the difference between the two is, or how the Shadow Mass option is suppose to work.

I have the exact same problem with the GPU shadows. I don't want to use CPU shadows because they are ugly and sucking performance like mad.

I must have tried nearly every setting of my graphics card and EQ2, but the problem stays with the GPU shadows. I've changed my graphics card drivers a few times, but to no avail.

Interesting is, that the weird shadows don't occur, when my character (or other characters) wear a full body outfit instead of normal armor pieces (for example the new dress from the erollisi day event). Also the problem does not occur on helmets, only on faces.

I use as well an ATI Radeon HD 4870 chip, maybe it is a specific problem with that?
