I've been having random issues with crashing to desktop for the last month or so. For awhile the common thread or so I thought was that every time I crashed when I restarted the client it would patch a file or 2 (a different one each time) and the game would load and I could play without issue. Now for the last 2 days I have been crashing to desktop randomly and when I restart the client there was no file to patch. Now this morning I tried 4 consecutive times to login and each time when my character was loading into the zone I would crash to desktop.

I did a full file scan this morning prior to logging in. I use profitUI, and I verified it is up to date. My graphics and other drivers are up to date as well. I use Win Vista ultimate, with a 2Ghz dual core processor and 2GB of memory and DX10. Below is my crashlog data.

SOEBuild=6196LSOEVersionString=2010/2/1 12:51:39

EVERQUEST2 CRASH LOG

================================================== ================================================Un handled exception EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at 0x00412E80Application was trying to read from 0x00000018 Region Begins At: 0x00000000 Region Ends At: 0x00010000 Region Size Is: 0x00010000 bytes Memory Protection: PAGE_NOACCESS (00000001) Memory State: MEM_FREE Memory Type: Free

Game Data: SOEBuild: SOEBuild=6196L SOEVersionString: SOEVersionString=2010/2/1 12:51:39 OS Version: 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 VER_NT_WORKSTATION CPU: 2 x86 GenuineIntel 14MHz RDTSC MSR CMPXCHG8 SSE SSE2 DirectX Version: 9.0c Video Card/Driver: [NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS] [nvd3dum.dll] 7.15.11.5666 {d7b71e3e-41d8-11cf-eb64-3adf01c2ca35} Time at crash: Sat Feb 06 11:22:07 2010 Login Server: none Performance: 7 Game Uptime: 69 seconds Position last frame: -249.78, -6.65, -390.74 Zone name: everfrost Time in Zone: 30 seconds Previous Zone name: GameScene::ZR_NETWORKED_ZONE_CHANGE Multi-core support: enabled Low-Memory Mode: disabled Resolution: 1440x900 (60 hz) fullscreen UI: UI/ProfitUI

Log: **** Unrecognized command - Parent.B3.OnPress **** Unrecognized command - Parent.B4.OnPress **** Unrecognized command - Parent.B5.OnPress getUIElementByName(Custom.Profit UI_ControlCenter): Module=Custom Window=ProfitUI_ControlCenter Child=[none] getUIElementByName(Custom.ProfitUI_ControlCenter) : Module=Custom Window=ProfitUI_ControlCenter Child=[none] getUIElementByName(Custom.ProfitUI_AutoAttackBar) : Module=Custom Window=ProfitUI_AutoAttackBar Child=[none] getUIElementByName(Custom.ProfitUI_AutoAttackBar) : Module=Custom Window=ProfitUI_AutoAttackBar Child=[none] Received chat channel update msg...
This is still an issue for me. 3 more crashes yesterday, and it's been a month now since I've reported this and I have not received any kind of followup, and I have not been able to play for more than maybe a few hours at the longest before a crash occurs.

I've tried running just using the default UI on a lark - problem persisted so it doesn't seem to be a UI compatability problem. Other than the 1 instance though I still have to patch files each time I reload so it's like every time an update is pushed to the patcher is errors out my game. I checked my launchpad options as well and have tried to have downloads stream during play and turned off and I still error out.

I really need some help with this because it's becoming increasingly frustrating for me, and for my guildies because noone wants to group with a tank that's going to drop out of game without warning periodically and get them all killed.

Greetings,

Are you using any type of firewall on that computer? If so, it seems likely that the firewall is blocking one of the files used by the game. In most cases, this is caused by a firewall blocking one of the voice chat files, specifically. Please open the exception list for your firewall and delete any entries that contain the words Everquest 2, EQ2, Launchpad, or Voiceservice. Then rerun the patcher(right click an run as administrator if using Windows 7 or Vista). Whenever prompted make sure to select 'allow'. That should refresh the firewall entries and will correct the problem in most cases. Let us know if the problem persists at that point.

I crashed again tonight. All of the EQ entries on my firewall list were showing full access previously so i didn't think the firewall was causing it, but I removed them tonight to be sure.

build="SOEBuild=6333L" version="SOEVersionString=2010/3/17 13:32:16" build_type="USER OPTIMIZED" ls_address="none" zone="exp06_rgn_odus_south" loc="1833.42 -290.98 3385.65" performance="7" stack="10022eb5 1009adc6 10077d23 1001d290 77023823 7733a9bd "
