Greetings -

I returned to the game a few weeks ago after a long break. Basically, I left early into the EOF expansion, so there is a lot I've been catching up on, both general and conj specific. Glad to see Xalmat still here - I was on Perma a long time ago and you were helpful to me in game several times

My issue is that while I do OK in groups, I've sucked the couple of times I raided since returning (only doing WOE so far). Back in KOS, I could regularly hit top three on a parse. Now I'm like 5 and 6 (of 12). In particular, my pet dies. I'm using a master mage pet - I'm about midway through getting epic/myth, but it hasn't been easy getting groups.

A few questions. I'm at 171 AA (predominantly done according to Xalmat's threads), and here is my gear:

http://eq2players.station.sony.com/...ithicor/Kastle/

My damage crit is 74%, which goes to 78% with a pot. My dps mod is somewhere in the mid 800's. With the expansion so close, and from what I read the mage pet about to be relevant again, should I focus on getting the Epic/Myth, or finish grinding AA's to 200? Feel free to let me know what other gear I should be focusing on upgrading first.

Also - with my pet dying - my sense is that there's more AOE's killing him, so I should be backing him off, call servant and have bubble protect him more than I do. It seemed like /pet ranged used to be enough. Do you guys just keep the pet near you and toggle him on/off around mob AOE's, or do you try to place him specifically. For example - I can't keep him alive on Digg or Grush.

Thanks in advance!!

Get your Fabled epic at least, then finish off the grind to 200 AAs.

The best thing to do about keeping the mage pet alive is to be Bubble spec'd, and on an AoE outcall you call your pet to your side, back the pet off just before the AoE hits, and let Bubble absorb the AoE.

Remember for Digg you want to keep your pet within Digg's bubble, and prevent it from attacking from the front or sides. Grush you don't want to let your pet get close at all, because the AoEs will kick its butt.

My advice is changed due to the xpac.

Get to level 90 Asap. Complete your fabled epic, and Epic Repercussions asap.

Bubble is no longer a useful AA, so don't spec down it. The Mage pet is now beefy enough that it doesn't need babying to survive a few AEs.
