I was cruising eq2wire this evening and read through this posting:

http://eq2wire.feldoncentral.com/20...server-updates/

The part which concerns me the most being:

"The biggest part of GU55 (with the loss of New Halas, Shaders 3, and the TS Revamp) are Battlegrounds"

Does this mean they are scrapping shaders 3 all together, pushing it back to GU56 with Halas or what exactly? I'm not exactly sure where eq2wire got the info concerning shaders, as I can't find anything to the contrary, but I've not known them to report incorrectly very often.

I searched their website for a good half hour, then came here to the official forums for probably close a full hour trying to find anyting supporting their claim. As of yet I've found nothing, so I'm posting with hopes that the test community or even better Imago him(her?)self could enlighten me.

Thanks in advance for the guidance

Hmm, this is the first that I have heard of this as well. I'd be very interested to hear what exactly is going on.

There are too many issues still with SM 3.0. So it wouldn't suprise me one bit that it's pushed even further.

Better to have it cook a little longer on Test, then to push it to Live early and have everyone complain about too bright, too dark, not showing, etc.

Jer

I think I heard in one of my channels that they where pushing shaders to LU56..

Not sure if it was just a guess at that time, but seing this I am thinking that someone might have been right.

Anything certain would be nice

I'm pretty sure it's not scrapped, just not ready yet because of a lot of tiny bugs.. the big works been done as i understand it and it's more like busy work to finish it off.

If GU55 is only Battlegrounds, it will be the least awaited GU for me, other than to get it over with so GU56 comes sooner.

So Shaders were announced June of 09 and are pushed to at least Mid-May of 2010, that's a pretty amazing delay.

Shocking!!!!

or not.... this unfortunately has become the norm for EQ2. Everything gets delayed. Shaders have been delayed several times now (why are we not told up front from the devs? Oh wait, they'll let us know the morning that GU55 launches and everyone is asking if Shader 3.0 is included), Halas is delayed, in some ways the Expansion was delayed (Moved from standard Nov. Launch to Feb.).

I don't know if this is due to staffing or what, but they need to get on the ball. Delay after delay is not positive for the community, it only decreases morale.

There hasn't been an outright announcement. It's reasonable speculation based on some different data points and sources. Maybe Shaders 3 will be something we can turn on by editing the INI file, but for now, it's not mature enough to use full time.

Holy Crap!! Im surprised anything would get delayed from SoE. It looks like half the things they boasted for the expansion are not going to be there. That in itself doesnt surprise me either. They already have such a small part of the market share when it comes to MMORPGs youd think they would want to put out as much as possible to bring folks back.

So we're left with "when we get to it" instead of delivering on time.

IMHO I think we'll be lucky to see it in GU56. The updates are WAY too important to risk getting it wrong.
