I have searched and searched this forum and cannot find the solution to this problem. I just formatted and reinstalled Windows 7. Before I formatted, EQ2 worked fine in Windows 7.

This time, however, when I try to run the game, the black box with SOE comes up and says it's downloading _aunchpad.exe and then it disappears and nothing else happens. I've tried installing the game twice, checked that IE wasn't working offline, disabled virus scanners and firewalls etc.

Why is the launch pad not coming up? Thanks for the help in advance.

I am not sure if this is a windows 7 problem, but more a Station problem, I am also having problems with this stupid station launcher. I have tried running as an admin, (by the way, I can NOT get it to change back) and it makes no difference. I play other games and have no problems. I came back to EQ thinking you all had your stuff together more then a few of these other sites, guess I was wrong.

Hello,

Also having the same issues here with the launcher. It was working fine last week then suddenly just started not working. With the new launcher I get a error about not being able to lauch files from c:/program files/sony online entertainment/station/launcher/Main . But if I try another patcher I get a network is not available please try again later. I've added EQ2 and all the port forwarding stuff to the router, I've also added the privelage levels and administrator stuff for the apps on Vista. Still isn't working. Now, in the log I get this:

[16:43:58] Log Session Open[16:43:58] LaunchPad version v1.75[16:43:58] Command Line: "C:Program FilesSonyStationLaunchPadLaunchPad.exe" "/gamepatchpath:C:Program FilesSonyEverQuest II" /game:eq2 /restarted[16:43:58] ---------------------------------------[16:43:58] System Date is: 02/05/2010 04:43:58pm[16:43:58] [16:43:58] [16:43:58] LaunchPad Checksum: 1450514731, Location: C:Program FilesSonyStationLaunchPadLaunchPad.exe[16:43:58] ---------------------------------------[16:43:58] CommandLine (m): "/gamepatchpath:C:Program FilesSonyEverQuest II" /game:eq2 /restarted[16:43:58] RootDir (m): C:Program FilesSonyStationLaunchPad[16:43:58] cwd (m): C:Program FilesSonyStationLaunchPad[16:43:58] Checking if current user is Admin or Power User[16:43:58] Loading internet type[16:43:58] Initializing Self-Patcher[16:43:58] Patcher: Checking Old Handles...[16:43:58] Patcher: Creating Thread...[16:43:58] Patcher: Done with Thread Creation Routine...[16:43:58] Patcher: Thread Start[16:43:58] Patcher: Memory Download Internet Type 0 Begin...[16:43:59] Patcher: curl_easy_perform failed (21,7): couldn't connect to host[16:43:59] Patcher: DownloadToMemory failed (21) on url=http://patch.station.sony.com:7000/patch/launchpad/launchpad-update.xml.gz[16:43:59] Patcher: Memory Download of XML Operation Complete.[16:43:59] Patcher: Memory Download Internet Type 0 Unsuccessful.[16:43:59] Patcher: Memory Download Internet Type 1 Begin...[16:44:00] Patcher: curl_easy_perform failed (21,7): couldn't connect to host[16:44:00] Patcher: DownloadToMemory failed (21) on url=http://patch.station.sony.com:7000/patch/launchpad/launchpad-update.xml.gz[16:44:00] Patcher: Memory Download of XML Operation Complete.[16:44:00] Patcher: Memory Download Internet Type 1 Unsuccessful.[16:44:00] Patcher: Memory Download Internet Type 2 Begin...[16:44:01] Patcher: curl_easy_perform failed (21,7): couldn't connect to host[16:44:01] Patcher: DownloadToMemory failed (21) on url=http://patch.station.sony.com:7000/patch/launchpad/launchpad-update.xml.gz[16:44:01] Patcher: Memory Download of XML Operation Complete.[16:44:01] Patcher: Memory Download Internet Type 2 Unsuccessful.[16:44:01] Patcher: Memory Download Internet Type 3 Begin...[16:44:02] Patcher: curl_easy_perform failed (21,7): couldn't connect to host[16:44:02] Patcher: DownloadToMemory failed (21) on url=http://patch.station.sony.com:7000/patch/launchpad/launchpad-update.xml.gz[16:44:02] Patcher: Memory Download of XML Operation Complete.[16:44:02] Patcher: Memory Download Internet Type 3 Unsuccessful.[16:44:02] Patcher: Memory Download Operation Failed.[16:44:02] Patcher: Thread Finish[16:44:02] Patcher initialized, initiating self-patch...[16:44:02] Scanning Files...[16:44:02] GameName [eq2]: Checking for update[16:44:02] Game Update Up to Date.[16:44:02] Done updating self[16:44:04] Log Session Closed

And that right there is the error I keep getting, any leads on this?

[16:44:02] Patcher: curl_easy_perform failed (21,7): couldn't connect to host[16:44:02] Patcher: DownloadToMemory failed (21) on url=http://patch.station.sony.com:7000/patch/launchpad/launchpad-update.xml.gz

Looks like a firewall issue, it can't connect to the update server. If oyu are using a software based firewall go into the configuration and delete all references to the patcher and the game and let it reauthorize

Yeah I saw posts regarding the firewalls and tried that as well. Not sure what the issue is but like I said it was working just fine last week then it just suddenly stopped working, I'm going to assume that its a SOE end issue has many others are experiencing the same issues. Bigger question is was there a update to the station launcher last week that could've broken it.

Hey there. I fixed my issue. I found that if I pin the EQII icon to my taskbar, there is no option to "Run as Administrator." Therefor, I figured I was already running it as Admin. However, one time I right-clicked it in the Start Menu and lo and behold, "Run as Administrator" was now in the list. Once I did that...it's been working Thank you!
