From the patch notes:

Housing zones and persistent instances will now automatically shutdown after one hour of inactivity. Any AFK players left in the zone will be camped back to the character select screen. You may still AFK indefinitely in overland zones, city zones and non-persistent dungeons.

What is "inactivity"? for how long? Since the patch I'm getting kicked out while actively doing things in the guild hall... never was before....

Tell me a little more about what is happening.

Is it kicking the entire zone or just one person? Is that person the only one left in the zone or are there others?

What activity are they doing?

probably *cough* AFK crafting *cough*

If someone is crafting then there is "activity", unless it is like the horrid auto afk system option you can check the box.

It is terrible. I will be crafting and it auto puts up the AFK along with the voice over for the AFK, but it will do it rapid-fire back to back while I am pushing buttons. It seems the qualifications for that auto-afk tag = you have to move a millimeter, and not just push buttons.

Yes , it appears the system equates 'activity' as 'movement' , if you spend an hour crafting potions (not unheard of as I make the potions for guild raids) , you get kicked as being inactive.

If however your character moves a fraction of a step in that hour , you don't get kicked.

I've started moving a fraction back and forth after a batch of potions just to make sure...but it's annoying.

Hoping you found something and patched..

you might try having someone auto run into a wall or something. You may have to work at getting it to where they moved enough to keep the zone open.

Seriously i don't understand this anyway. How much useage could a guild hall be taking up in bandwidth or server activity especially T1 and T2 halls? Or at least extend the time period in T1 and T2 halls since they are so small

I still had that problem as of yesterday on Test Server. Crafting and brokering don't seem to count as activity. the whole hall goes down and with it every char in it. In my case: Tier 1 Hall in NQ with 3/2 people in it.

Purr~

I know I've crafted in the past where the auto-AFK would mark me as AFK even while happily crafting away (since I wasn't using the keyboard, IIRC). But if it measures any kind of commands then I imagine crafting is activity -- the only case where it might not be is if the actual process of starting a combine and finishing it (ie the change of things in inventory) were not considered activity. But even that case is almost silly... who crafts without the abilities?

A little info to add, I have auto afk on. If i craft just using my mouse to hit the reactions and change recipes, i'll go afk. If I craft using the keyboard number keys i dont go afk, which is how i usually craft anyhow.

Cloudrat always crafts using her mouse. She had the Guildhall poof on her twice when she was the only one in the hall while she was crafting.

Take what you will from that
