View Full Version : Reinstalling windows and saving game

<p>Hello, i want to switch from Windows Vista to Windows 7 (i have split HDD to C: and D: with D: being for files i want to save when i reinstall) but the problem is i downloaded full client with Station Launcher (automatically installed) and i was wondering is there any way to save my installed client from reinstalling (got really slow connection took me 5 days to download it last time).</p><p>Any suggestions or help is appreciated! <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" /></p>

<p>The only thing that really installs on the computer (in the sense of registry and whatnot) is the Launcher. The game files can be easily backed up by simply copying your Everquest 2 folder from whereever it is on your current drive to your backup drive. The only thing you may have to reinstall afterwards is the Launcher itself. Once the Launcher is reinstalled, just point it to whereever you restore the Everquest 2 folder and you should be good to go.</p><p>Most of the time I don't even use the launcher to run the game. I really only use it to patch when needed. I also install my games outside of the Programs Folder of the OS in a /Games folder. It helps simplify those HD rebuilds somewhat and alleviates some of the UAC issues. For that matter, you could even just leave the Everquest folder on your backup drive and run it from there.</p>
