Hello all,

My 8800gtx went out a few months back so i ordered the new ATI 5850, but because it was on back order i bought a 9500gt to hold me over.

Well I got my 5850 and put it in last night however I have noticed some strange changes to my game. I will try to describe them the best i can.

My font size's for just about everything was messed up after i put the new card in. For example all my chat box's (i run 4 chat box's) font's were all jacked up meaning all the words and such were a lot bigger than i ever remember them being before i put this new card in. For the chat box's I reset the font size to what I think i use to have them at and they seem to be ok now, but and this is the strange part other random windows on the game are a much bigger font size.

Example: When you step on the porter pads inside the guild hall you know the ones that give you a description of were you can port to, or when you right click on a chat windown or a hot bar ect...the options that pop up like were to port to or like when you right click on a chat window and you get the options for chat options, open new chat ect....those windows are rather large and the words are very large font size.

When I hit something like /gu, /r, /g, /t ect...and start to type the message is in one font size but when i hit enter and that message goes to what ever windows i have it set for the message changes to that windows font size. Like if i am responding to something in guild chat i hit /gu and type my message which is a large font size and then when I hit enter and it puts that message in my guild chat box its the correct font size that I have set.

I have looked all through the game options and settings to try and find some way to adjust the menue options that pop up if i step on a porter pad, or right click on a hot bar, or chat window but can't find anything that would adjust that size.

Before this new card my settings have been about the exact same since i started playing one month after lauch.

I currently running two monitors (like i always have) my primary monitor is set at 1920x1080 and my 2nd monitor is set at 1920x1200....both are 24"

Any thoughts on what changed when i put the new card in??

Please any help would be nice

Ok this is starting to really frustrate me with this new card. The resolution options seems to be crazy with this card and my monitor. For some reason the max res it allows me to set at is 1920x1080 which is 1080p, and that is causing eq2 to look strange. If I force the res to 1920x1200 then the screen does not seem to fit correctly; for example if i put it at 1920x1200 i have to actually scroll up on my desk top if i want to see the bottom and scroll down on the screen if i want to see the top. A friend of mine looked up the native res for LCD monitors on line yesterday and 1920x1080 is not even listed as a native res. Why does the game act/look so strange with this res setting. I am almost certain that with my last two cards 8800gtx and 9500gt I was running both monitors at 1900x1200, but with this new card things are all crazy, and it is making my game look all messed up when i am playing the words are all streatched out, and it seems the font size of the words are rather large. The game its self looks fine but the words and other stuff within the game are messed up. The chat bubbles above npc heads, chat box words, menu's that show up when you right click on something are very large and in some situations the words don't even fit correctly in the box's.

Is there anyway to make the game look normal with a 1920x1080 setting??? or will i be forced to either learn to live with this or get rid of the card all together and go back to my 9500gt?? My primary monitor is the new Samsung LED 23" monitor and my 2nd one is Samsung 24" LCD.

I am running DVI connections, and use windows XP

If you are trying to use Eyefinity then both monitors must be running at the same resolution.

Also I would recomend running the Catalyst 9.12 hotfix drivers. Yes the 10.1s are out but they actually rebroke a few things (like the mouse cursor suddenly going huge.)

http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticle...t912Hotfix.aspx

If you did not completely clean out your Nvidia drivers before installing the ATI card and its drivers then you are going to have weird issues undoubtably. Also if you have installed the 10.1 drivers you need to select uninstall instead of install when you run the 9.12 hotfix drivers, this is because earlier editions of Catalyst drivers can't overwrite later ones some times. And then after it is done doing that run the 9.12 hotfix drivers again using install.

When i changed the cards I uninstalled the Nvidia drivers then shut down the pc, then changed out cards turned the pc back on and loaded up the 10.1 drivers.

Now that I am looking at the add/remove I notice that Nvidia forceware network access manager, nvidia ntune and nvidia physx are still installed should i go ahead and remove them as well??

When i get rdy to install the other drivers for the ATI would it be best to go to add/remove and uninstall the 10.1 then reboot and then install the other ones??

Not sure what Eyefinity is?? How would i check that setting??

Eyefinity is a new ATI feature that expands the screen over three screens, enabling very wide fields of view. Its a sort of hit and miss feature atm with games. I doubt EQ2 is supported.

If your motherboard is not a nforce chipset it should be safe to remove anything Nvidia tagged. Nvidia PhysX should be uninstalled I think. I am not sure about Ntune or network access manager. Could try the guru3d forums for those answers.

With the ATI catalyst drivers there is no need to add/remove if you select uninstall after double clicking on the driver package you wish to install. This will uninstall all ATI driver packages installed and then ask to reboot. After which you can double click on the driver package again and select install. Generally you can just install the latest drivers over the newest but when your trying to roll back this doesn't always work.

So far I've found 9.12 hotfix to be the best of the latest ones. The 10.2s and 10.3s coming up will be major revisions 10.1 was relatively minor. I myself had a resolution issue on my second monitor with the 10.1s it was set to the correct resolution but the top and bottom where cut off slightly.
