I'm torn on which one I want to do. I like both a lot but can only have one. About the only time I group is with my RL friends or my wife.

Which one is "better" at soloing. I mean as an average.

Which one can tank better? I know basically how avoidance tanks work but does a Monk do a significant job of tanking?

All out dps which one parses higher ON AVERAGE (meaning dont include gimmick fights just pretty much overall).

Im asking cause I want a tank that can step up for our guild if needed but just duo with the wife's fury (I know Wards are better choice for Brawlers but wife insists on fury).

It is clear you have already decided to go with the far superior class of monk.

Monk/fury is a pretty sweet duo. I think they easily solo better than berserkers. Zerkers do more aoe dps, but they are very tanky feeling. For your play style, I'd roll a monk (well, I'd roll a bruiser but that wasn't one of your choices ).

From what I hear, in February all tanks will be on a much more even playing field when it comes to doing the job of tanking. I don't know specifics.

I can say this though... by class design zerker is a very AoE oriented class and Monk has always been more single target. I would say guardians and monks are the two most single target oriented tanks in the game.

I'd say that it depends on what you mean in terms of stepping up for your guild. If they are raiding or trying to start up a raid force and you want to tank for them, it might be a little easier to go zerker because they are more adept at holding groups of enemies than a monk. That goes for grouping as well, but to a lesser extent. Don't get me wrong, I've seen some amazing monk tanks in my time in the game, but it will take a lot more work to keep aggro against multiple mobs and your guildies will have to be aware that they should not be spamming their AE's. For solo or duo settings, a monk is pretty good at holding their own and they have more tools to work with such as invis, Fd, a self heal, and so on. It just comes down to your prefrence.

From my experience as a mythed monk in TSO is, before you get your mythical tanking is very hard, holding aggro inst so bad, single target only. with the changes in SF aggro for all tanks shouldn't be as much of a problem, but the myth still my be a needed to tank for a monk. I am able to step up in raids as a OT when other tanks are just ether to slow or not high enuff on the hate list to grab the mob when the MT goes down. i rily like duoing with my wife on here fury and we are about to get a lot don. with the changes to the monk and fury in SF it sould be more fun for this duo to work.... but sadly a bruiser may work better with there new AOE aggro tools. since furys have 3 blue AOEs over time and a few other green AOEs.
