Racial Choices: I'm not sure. It's still kind of subjective. My main is a Half-Elf. Though I'm not completely wild about the changed racials for my own character, I also haven't found them wanting (like I have on other races). Some of the races have an infinitely spam'able self heal for out of combat. (I know Sarnaks get it. Maybe Barbarians too.) Or races such as Arasai and Dark Elves have improved poison abilities and bonuses to melee crit. My own Half-Elf is a middle of the road choice who gets various bonuses in a lot of categories, but lacks a signature racial trait that defines them.

Crafting Classes: The main crafting classes to use have always been Jeweler (for ability upgrades) and Alchemist (for poisons). This situation really hasn't changed. In a perfect world, you'd want both. Otherwise you'll want to form a relationship with a player who can cover the class that you don't have.

Secondary Skills: Is Tinkering still god? Yes. There is no question. Though in the future expansion, there are plans to let people level up both secondary skills at the same time. Also Transmuting is the only class who will have access to T9 adornments. These changes have been in response to the countless complaints that Transmuting is a worthless profession.
