View Full Version : Leader only looting rights when changed should have pop-up windows for group members to agree upon.

A 74 Necromancer in my Shard of Fear group was the group leader. Throughout the group we agreed that need/greed on legendary and above was okay. When we got to Terror the last named we killed it, an exquiste chest dropped with a fabled item in it so he changed the looting options to leader only real quick, looted it for himself, changed the looting options back to need/greed, disbanded and camped without the group permission. The group petitioned him and was furious.

So i'm thinking on a future patch SOE should make it so when a group leader wants to change the loot options espcially to leader only there should be pop-up windows on every other group member's screen to agree upon this by clicking yes or no to like a question "Do you agree to this looting option" So people won't get ripped off and get away with it. Becuase he did. But his rep is way low on the server now.

I dont like this idea, If you dont trust the group leader, dont do the group. It's one of the risks you take with grouping with people you dont know. IMO this is like asking burglars to make me sign an agreement before they rob me... O.o

Having a confirm window would be a PITA when you are raiding.

I'm not sure having a pop-up asking all group members to agree would work, there's always someone that goes AFK, and I could see it getting very annoying very quickly.

And about the locking the looting options, I don't like that idea, mainly cos changing the looting options whilst looting is the only way to reset all the choices when someone has accidently clicked the need button on the wrong item.

Also our guild also changes between leader-only and NBG in some zones, we do leader-only on fabled items in WoE chests, but once they're done, we do NBG for the rest of the items in the chest, like the essences, and other legendary stuff (cos we like to make sure only the classes that can properly use the fabled get it, but we don't really care about the legendary stuff). And there is no way to set leader-only for Fabled and NBG for Legendary for the same chest.

I think the best thing to do is just never group with that person again, stuff happens, if people want to do things like that, they will find a way (unfortunately).

yea people in the channels already said he's going to have a really bad reputation on the server but if any of these looting ideas i mentioned were to be done i pretty much was talking about for groups not raids but i see your points for raids and maybe even groups i suppose...

Changes to looting rights show in the chatbox. If you don't like them, you can leave the group. There are already too many irritating popups, we certainly don't need more of them.

Just start a thread on EQ2Flames with that person's name and broadcast their name in open chat on your server.

I have had this as well, reporting the player worked wonders though, withing a few days i had some money and the item in my mailbox.

Hope this will be the same result for you, putting a confirmation box on the changing to leader looting only,is indeed not a good idea, at some grouping / raidings it is not uncomming it will be chanmged a lot,you dont want to be waiting for 6/12/24 players to confirm the change every time..

Ortahr.

Clarance@Butcherblock wrote:

or when an encounter locks so should the looting rights untill the chest is looted

bad idea also - been on to many guild and pickup raids when the raid leader forgot until the first chest drop. The loot change is displayed in the normal chat window, there is no need doe a 24 person raid to agree to the change nor is there for a 6 person. If the group leader is at fault or untrustworthy then leave the group and put the play on ignore

Adding a group confirmation or locking looting rights as-is on encounter would make my life a PITA on raids, especially raids when I have to switch rights back and forth. There is no need to mess with the mechanic.

Anyone who is prepared to organise a group should be able to decide on looting rights. Normally this will be done following a conversation with the group. If you don't like it, leave. Having a group dictated to by a troublesome hanger on refusing to click a box isn't the way forward. Groups would be at the mercy of the same individuals that draw genitals on the maps in Guild Wars.

I jsut wish there were more options in the loot settings. For example, everything Treasured and below is round robin, everything Legendary and below (to Treasured, the next setting down) is NBG, everything Fabeled and below (to Legendary at the next setting) is leader-assigned. Not just a single point at which the loot changes from one to the next setting.
