back out of retirement

<p>Hey all;</p><p>decided to give this a go again.  Been in retirement for the past two years checking out other things and thought I was done here, but I am back and have a few questions as several things are a lot different than when I played.  I left shortly after I dinged 80 and we had a just begun raiding Kunark....  so I gather my gear sucks now as compared to the shard gear etc... </p><p>Though, I am curious, are rangers as a raid class dead?  With just the select few going on high end raids here and there?  I talked to a few people who did not retire and am not sure if they are pulling my leg or not on this issue....  additionally, I am wondering  if there is anything in particular I should be aiming for like betrayal or rerolling as another class...  Which I would rather not do, but if rangers are being sidelined now for raids I may not have much of a choice....</p><p>thanks for any input in advance...</p>

<p>Rangers are always a popular class, and most are clueless how to play them well.  Leads to a lot of prejudice against our class.    Having said that though several prominent high end raiding guild Rangers are making the plunge to Assassin for the new expansion, or did so earlier this year during TSO.  I am unaware of any similarly skilled Assassin's betraying the other way.</p><p>How high end do you want to Raid?  Pickup raids, well you'll likely get sidelined for percieved  "real dps".  Guild Raiding you can likely get a spot if you fit in, high attendance, ontime, low drama, skilled yada yada.   Easier after the expansion then now likely.</p><p>Re-gear at the beginning of next expansion, its gear reset time anyway.   If you like the Ranger class you can make it work.</p>

Basically, all the skilled players levelled up multiple chars so they could run these shard runs (grey or not) all day.  So, the casual part time players figured they <strong>should</strong> be doing this too. At the end of it, you dilute the casual players' attention to the point where they are no longer as good at playing their original toons , which they may have been able to play anywhere from fairly good to well.  And there is not a lot of good players in casual guilds at their NEW toons.  Rangers, as a class, imo suffer more from this dilution phenomenon than many other classes, because we have DPS Potential (TM). Skill is a serious modifier.</p><p>Personally, my <strong>Inquistor</strong> has been my main since TSO started and I don't see any change in that. So, I would roll something else to give yourself some time to contemplate the world, and always good to have something else to offer a guild.  You didn't mention which server you were on, but if you are on AB, shoot us a tell.  we're always into getting old folks back for another trip down memory lane.  <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" /></p><p>Canul </p><p><Renegades> AB</p>

<p>I'm recently back out of retirement as well.  I completely re rolled.  But I re rolled ranger again and I'm not regretting it.  I have at least 2 other toons im lvl'ing just in case though hehe.</p>
