Returning from a long break, and this is my first time playing on a PvP server for EQ2.I was wondering when do we as assassins become more deadly? it seems i cant really take any1 out. Granted my gear is all junk (i rerolled on this server and have absolutely zero coin) that i acquired threw drops or quest rewards (lvl 17). i also went down the Jewlcraft/Potions expertise to make my own Expert spells so i didnt have to pay for them. As well as starting my ap's down the Strength line (got 14 at the moment i know i need more but they will continue to grow).Everytime i see some1 i have to tuck tail and run/stealth. Even if they are greens...... yeah i knwo lame right?Do i suck that bad right now? lol or is it the fact im running into better geared and more experienced EQ2 pvp'ers? All advice is welcome....ps ima quester so i make sure to do all the quests in a given area working my way through COmmonlands and the connecting fairy land, forget what its called. To gain as much AP exp as i can with my slider on max

im lvl 17 too and have 18 AA points.

Its nearly impossible to kill a orange player in this lvl range. With lvl 20 u can get the pvp gear very cheap and this ward on it is bad.

Enemys in same lvl are ok for me, but often my hits miss esp on Plattank/crusaders. MC bow is important, and good weapons of cuz. Use detaunt how u use a stun to get behind him. Use adorments (thorncoat). Search a guildhall, where u can use HP, Haste or fearbuff.

Im a newb with my assa, im on stamina AA , hope i will see soon how it works.

Assassins (atm) are the most balanced of all the scout classes. We also require a lil more skill to play as opposed to our ranger brethern. Now, I can give some tips/pointers, but it would be from a PoV of a T8 assassin. But I do know what I'm talking about cos I have the highest kills amongst all assassins world wide (not to toot my own horn too much ) If I remember correctly, at level 24 you get Mortal Blade which is an excellet CA (i'd recommend getting it Expert). Armorer is good to have, but you might want to roll an alchy. Reason being is that every 10 levels (you can stretch it to 20) you will be getting new armor and jewelry. However, you will always be using poisons and they can get pretty expensive depending on what you use. Low tier, go for the INT line and get INTOX. I will have to disagree with Frank that STA is crap. Least in T7/T8 all scouts when they attack you open up BIG. Meaning they let loose with everything they got to burn you down. With IMPEN you pop that, you parry all their big attacks while you just sit there and take the hits and prep your counter attack. After the 12 seconds of stifle, it becomes your turn to kick their "donkey". Try out all the different AA specs to get a feel for what you like and your style of play.

I have a 25 twink sin right now and pvp frequently, and sin's can be quite deadly.

When do you get deadly? It depends, do you want to be deadly right now, or deadly later. If it's now, here is my advice:

1) Disable all XP.

2) Do the following AA (or AP) runs to cap your AA's at the 1.5 max (you can collect more, but can only use 1.5) - EL, D'Morte, and PoF. Get an AA potion (costs 50k status, grind tradeskill writs if you need to) before the PoF run to maximize the AA's from that). These runs are broadcast frequently in 1-9 chat, they cost a little, but are worth it. You can also quest a ton with quest XP turned off, but that's the slow way.

3) Make sure you are using mastercrafted potions, use Caustic as it gives you the most burst damage.

4) Make sure you have a mastercrafted bow at least (I'm assuming you lack the PVP tokens for the PVP bows). Use the player made field point arrows for your teir.

4) Get all your gear mastercrafted, but I'd say armor and weapons first (although they are the most expensive).

5)If you have tokens start accumulating PVP gear. If you don't have enough, join the scrums in DLW and SS to complete the writs you need. You'll die a lot, but you'll get tokens by helping your faction mates kill opponents you could not kill yourself. You will not be effective in PVP at low levels without PVP gear. Also when you target an opponent, check his buffs. If you see the Ward of Resistance buff, and the reflect buff, you know he has at least 5 pieces of PVP jewelry (and is probably using weapons and some armor), is almost certainly twinked out and not a good one-on-one opportunity for you until you are similarly geared. Make sure you have numbers before attacking such a target.

5) For AP spending, go Int line first, although you can be effective with strength. I mess around with mine all the time. If you don't know about them get the AA free respec cards from NFP (in basement of academy of arcane sciences).

6) You can buy a health potion that gets you another 120 health.

7) I know you are cash poor, but try and have butterfly totems available when you are in known PVP areas.

Familiarize yourself with the Research Assistant. At your level, it only takes one real time day to turn those expert CA's into masters.

Do these things and you can compete in the twink wars. Or you can skip them by leveling up and wait until you meet the really uber people (the twinks are just their alts) in what will then be tier 9. Then start the process of gearing, mastering out, maxing AA's, etc. which is the wonderful grind of EQ2.

The basic rule is this, you will not be truly deadly on this server until your gear/AA's/masters are at least above average. All things being equal, there will always be some classes that give you trouble, but things are rarely equal and the joy of being a scout is that you fight when you want to on your terms, that's what makes you the most deadly.
