I left the game early last year due to scheduling conflicts with work and guild... and now will be coming back! It seems a lot has changed in the game since I left in January 2009... (which is why i'm making this post)... but one thing hasn't: we are still an underdog and underapreciated/misunderstood class with great utility and power that is often unappreciated by the game at large. Am I right? Anyway... when I rolled up out of here... i was able to do like 6k dps in full melee build which was roughly comparable to scouts... Bonecrusher was the melee weapon of choice off of Pawbuster. In healing stance I could effectively heal a party solo... though took a little more healing skill than it does our OP Templar cousins cuz we didn't have their stoneskin spell or other little "I win" buttons... we were valued in raids pretty much only for our mythie cure all button, verdict, and the dps contribution on trash and backup healing on boss fights... but it was still a niche role that no one else really filled like us. Is my understanding of my beloved Inquisitor class still accurate? I've heard rumors that if I want to be useful endgame next xpac I might as well jump ship and betray over to Templar... which I want to avoid if at all possible but which I guess I would have to do if neccesary. Anyway, could you guys lemme know what sort of changes have happened in the last year to bring me up to speed? I really would appreciate the help. Thanks much!

Is Inq a black sheep class in the eyes of a lot of the player populace? Yes, that's still my experience on LDL. I never had a real opinion on the matter until I started grouping consistently with them on my brigand main. They were the ones who inspired me to make my Inq alt.

However some of that has changed. TSO is the group cure spam expansion. By chance, much of this expansion's Void themed content is covered by the Inq group cure. On top of that, an Inq can use their Myth for a 2nd group cure as needed. In many of the TSO raid fights, a Myth'ed Inq can solo cure their parties. To be honest, there's a little animosity that I've noticed (as a brigand) towards Inq for this reason. TSO is resulting in a high turn over rate for healers as they're getting burnt out on the group curing. (These players often even switch to another class entirely due to this cure fest.) Even with Profit, healers need to have a high reaction time since there's almost no room for lag or human imperfection. So the fact that Inq can mostly get around this difficulty is actually making them desireable by an increasing amount of raid leaders. People will usually call for Plate Healers anymore and are often taking either cleric class.

What will the next expansion bring? Not a clue. I'm not in beta and haven't been paying attention to the leaks.

Right now the dps weapons of choice are the Thex Mallet (HQ reward) or the Hammer of Heavy (or Hard?) Knocks from the 1st named in the x2 WoE raid zone. (WoE is a popular raid zone added for x2 groups and drops T3 patterns.) The Hammer is largely considered to be a trash drop by most of your average raider populace at this point. It will be rarely contested if it drops while you're present.

As a healer who hasn't played in a year, I'm guessing that you might have you both of your stances from the TSO end line abilities. Those are your main priority ASAP since the healer stance is VERY desireable for the more challenging raids. Also the dps stance is amazing for soloing or on easy content.

I've only been raiding for about a year but I've been pretty happy with my Inquisitor and the desire there seems to be for the class in raids.

The big 2-hander is the Heavy Hammer of Hard Knocks http://www.lootdb.com/eq2/item/465933668 which is dropped by Imperator Ignus in Ward of Elements X2 raid zone. I have it adorned with the Smoldering Phantom Shod which provides a power transfer proc. When in Battle Cleric spec the DPS is pretty nice.
