View Full Version : Monk returning after four years...could use some guidance

Greetings Folks,

I just returned to the lands after a 4 year abscence, and I'm really a bit confused as to what I should have on my main attack bar, which persistent spells would be best to maintain, and which skills I should concentrate on upgrading.

I've brought all my spells to "Adept" level, but really have no clue how to proceed in the AA path, gear...etc.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm currently level 43, still have a few nice items left from before, and have replaced what I could afford, with Mastercrafted gear. Can't even afford a horse at the moment...but I'm giving it my best shot to get back on track the best I can, and I just want to have an idea what my priorities should be.

Thanks in advance,

Kregar

I found myself in the same situation this past week when I decided to give Everquest 2 another go. I played from release until just before the first expansion came out as a monk and I wasn't sure about what to do with him now with all the expansions and changes that have taken place in the game. I played a couple of levels solo to try to get things back on track and then realized I really wasn't sure if I was doing good or bad with him anymore.

I started a new monk a few days ago and have him into the 30's now, relearning what skills I like and which I don't and what he is capable of and what he is not. I'm not sure if it is differences in the AA skills I am picking or just a difference in my head but the new monk does feels different than the old one. Now that I have sort of relearned everything I find myself wanting to just level up the new monk all the way and deleting the old level 52 one which I can't get into playing anymore. Sounds weird I know since they are both the same class with the same skills but I think there is something refreshing about starting out with a clean slate when you come back after being away for so long.

There are many posts about ca orders and aa selections. Use the search tab to look through the old posts. I would suggest that if you are restarting use the aa slider at 100% the lower lvls (10-20) and build some aa's up. I would go with 5 aa's then go make a lvl. The more aa's you have the better your monk will work. I would rather have a lvl 45 monk with 70 aa's than to have a lvl 80 monk with only 100. Thats just me anyway. Adventure exp will come fast anyway.

Another tid bit is that with the coming expansion there will possibly be changes to the monk class. Be searching these boards for new info once it is available. It should be coming soon once the nda is lifted.
