I am working on this questline at the moment and noticed him in there - he mentions that he is here on behalf of the hand, any ideas what their involvement is?

The Circle of the Unseen hand seems to get around to everyone and everything. They have connections to almost anything, but have yet to play any more involvement in the story other than the Dark Guantlets heritage quest, where they pretty much abduct you and take you to a secret location, where they then tell you that you must keep their secret a secret AND work for them, or they will kill you where you stand.

I haven't gotten any further than that.

Thanks i'll have to check that out too!

Also, is there any reason why it's year 0 in the peacock club but the year 3805 in maj'dul?

If you're refering to the games /time command, it varies from individual character to individual character, so there's no official date the game takes place in other than the always eternal 500 A.K, even with the game acknowledging the passing of 5 years through a live event.

Just wish they would update the look of the place some (Other then the loss of a certain Puppeteer), like bring the appearance in line with the new houses---Don't forget the Vahlen Plushie!!! Heck give him some music!!! Add more Characters, Have more possible quest branches there (Most solo but a few Sharable group ones) and update what is sold there I'm tired of the Blank screen because I outgrew the club's tier. (Maybe add in some fun/Lore-ish items)

I seem to remember the dragon Gorenaire disguises himself as a member of the Circle of the Unseen Hand (E'Naire). He steals the Qeynos Claymore with some other members of the Hand and heads to the Kingdom of Sky with it.

I haven't been able to complete it because of that stupid epic x2 zone they stick right in the middle of the line.

you find that out pretty early on if I remember right. the ring leader of the theft of the claymore was a darkelf called E'Naire, adn once they had the claymore adn got out, E'naire took off to KoS with it, revealing to her accomplices who she really was.

As to the Unseen Hand...they are like the Mafia. they are the power in the crimminal world, and there are 'Cells' of them, each with it's own leader that all keep in contact to a overall head. adn there's a cell in qeynos, freeport, neriak, gorowyn, and butcherblock. they run all the criminal world.

The Freethinkers are like the illuminati. they are secret, but they have ties to everyone and everything. It's not really a surprise that they have connections to the Unseen Hand. if you ever need anything done in an underhanded or a shady way, or need to deal with such people, you pretty much have to go through the Unseen Hand if you want to keep the deck stack in your favor.

ha, thanks for the feedback guys, I didn't even know that E'naire was female! There's no mention of that in the Claymore line. You are told that E'naire is the main thief of the Claymore at the beginning of the quest line but if I remember correctly, it's only once you reach barren sky (perhaps just before the x2 AoA raid, or even as a result of completing that) that you learn that E'naire is GorE'naire.

Actual dialogues and revelations, and not just putting two and two together?

Cool. Good enough for me. I just wanted to remove any remaining skepticism I had.

Actually, it also partially satisfies my curiosity as to why Gorenaire even joined the Cult of the Awakened to begin with. I remember hearing Talendor having a reason, and that Gorenaire basically followed him because she had nothing better to do.

They clearly have no love for the other from what I could tell. When you kill Talendor his spirit even says "At least I did not die to the claw of that minor dragon, Gorenaire".

It's at the end of the epic x2... you inspect the base of a statue in Ascent of the Awakened and find a note which reads: We do not need Aaryonar intruding : I did not tread upon the streets of Qeynos and steal the claymore from under the nose of their elite Royal Antonican Guards for the new order only to have our plans thwarted by Aaryonar ! It was revolting assuming that teir ′dal form and allowing the lessers to call me E′Naire: I am not Darathar ! I cannot hold my disguise for very long : I have another request : Send forth our assassins to slay the meddling hooluk ; the one with the incessant chattering : He has read the Codex of Totems and might unwittingly release the process of imbuing the totem: We do not need Aaryonar alerting Vyemm: - Gorenaire

What is the totem she mentions?

it's possibly a hint to use the aITEM -423963046 -158887210:The Totem of Aaryonar/a

as later in the quest you use the totem to summon Aaryonar's essence ( a cute little baby dragon) and he proceeds further with the quest.

You only need to do the lower two levels to progress.

Gorenaire and Talendor have always been rivals, they were in EQ1 too. Though I've always seen it as more of a sibling rivalry, just trying to one up or outdo eachother. Although I coulda swore in this case it was Gore that joined first, then Talendor followed to make sure Gore didn't gain any advantages over him.

It is still easily duo-able or trio-able, however, and anybody who sent a shout-out in level chat could probably round-up enough interested parties to give it a shot. I dredge-up folks for old-school raids all the time just for kicks. Heck, I managed to recruit 4 of my guildies to take-on the x4 version of Ascent, so it isn't as if it's hard.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that, by the end of the Dark Mail Guantlets questline, you have become the Voice--leader of your very own cell of the Hand. You can even buy some nifty-looking armor and house items, not to mention the titles you get via the quests.
