I just wondered, is there any particular name for the sort of "dress" if it can be called so that Queen Antonia Bayle wears on the statue in Queynos Harbor, and that also this particular female is wearing at the bottom of this page, just it's in different colors.

http://eq2.eqtraders.com/articles/a...tr=080000000000

It has the piece that goes over and covers her undies in front and the back piece that goes down near her ankles. Just I think it's hot. Ever see a real world girl wear it? And out in public, not just for a halloween dress up party (though if you have I'd like to hear that too)

I know in the picture it says "this festival garb" and "that festival garb" but it's been seen outside festivals, and festival garb may refer to all the clothing she's wearing, not just that dress.

I've seen that dress referred to as fancy, formal, and for floozies (well, a term similar to floozy, anyway).

In my opinion, the "fancy" dress as I'll refer to it is very similar to the garb of some belly dancers, particularly Turkish. A few examples can be found here, here, and here (please, refrain from making any comments on the women in these images, both positive and negative). The Turkish designs seem to have the little dangling part over the stomach, along with arm sleeves and, as with almost all belly dancers, bare feet. Oh, and don't forget the exposed tummy part. Of course, this isn't a 100% accurate representation as the backs were similarly exposed and our dresses only expose the legs, stomach, and high chest area.

They seem to be the "formal attire" of Norrath, sort of like a tuxedo and evening gown... except more exposed!

As an aside, it completely irritates me that the fancy dress graphic on Halflings shows them wearing white panties but it doesn't on any of the other races I have that have the dress. Small matter but it doesn't look modest, it looks cheap - like wearing a shoulderless ball gown but a standard bra, not a strapless one.

Incidently - take it from one who knows thanks to a hallowe'en costume disaster - the fancy dress look? Trickier to pull of in real life than you'd imagine. The look that is, not the dress. THAT was far far too easy to pull off. Did it on its own accord in fact. Constantly. *shudders in remembrance*

However, just like an EQ2 character, you wouldn't be able to sit or bend over. Breathing may be a bit of a problem too unless the dress was over-engineered around the bust. (or modesty was of no concern)

Like many things in EQ2, the formal dress was created with a middle eastern flare but no grounds in reality. The first time we saw that model it was for the dress offered by the City Merchant in blue. You hardly see anyone wearing the male counterpart...

That dress is not what I've seen on belly dancers. I've seen full dresses the a halo dress basically. It goes all the way around, not a piece in front and one in back.

Great to see that I've missed another ninja event lasting only a week. Thanks soe! Seriously what's the point of even having events if they are so short most people don't even relise that they existed.

The city festivals will be taking place in a rotation, you get multiple chances. In fact, you might want to read up on City Festivals at EQ2 Trader's Corner and learn more about them.

It's not exact, but I find this of the examples I listed to be the closest match:

Armsleeves, bare legs, dressy part in front (between legs) and in back, danglies all over, and something around the neck. Again, it's not exact, but that's the best that I can offer ya as a real-life example.

That aside, that dress in particular is just the Norrathian formal/fancy/floozy attire as far as I can find.

It was also mentioned a lot of times on the forums here and there. I first herd about it months ago. I herd a definate date for it in mid december. I didn't find out the actual location until Jan 1st (I thought it was going to be Qeynos like on test).

A little heads up: Feb 1st-7th is the next city festival and the rumor is it might be just outside of New Halas! Even if it isn't, it could be any starting city except for Kelethin. Start saving up your city tokens!

As the city isn't part of the expansion, just launching the same time, I doubt it'll be available from 16th with the early access - tho tbh, this is SOE and lets face it they've done odder things before now.

I also suspect they'll be alternating good and evil cities so my guess is... Gorowyn, cos Gorowyn is kinda the opposite of Kelethin and I think New Halas is going to be more like the good version of Neriak so they'll be paired. But we'll just have to wait and see.

I talked to a Japanese (she's living in the US right now) fashion designer and she says she's only seen that dress in cosplay.

The festival garb's actually the latest recoloring. The original is the female formal ensemble available from the city merchant. There's a purple version available if you complete the Grandmaster tradeskill quest series from your city crafting NPC. There's also a black version available off your city tradeskill society faction vendor, but you have to have a very high faction to get it (which means grinding a lot of crafting writs). There were a light-rose and light-blue-grey version available as crafted clothes, crafters got the recipe books during the Valentine's Day event. And there's a green version called Uniform of the Forest Assassin that was available during a couple of live events.

The outfits themselves are a single chest piece that pretty much cover all other appearance items. IOW you equip the piece and the rest of your clothes vanish, giving you only the look of this outfit showing.
