Firstly, I would like to thank everyone on these forums to contributing to posts providing advice, help and tips to players, both current and future. I was fence sitting late last year regarding whether I should pick up this game (which was more difficult than some could imagine, I was [Removed for Content] well addicted to EQ1 in '99), and it was only because of the nice people on this forum (and other forums/websites) that I decided to give it a chance.

Being unable to locate this game in any shop in Perth, Western Australia, I decided to order the Complete Edition from the states, and let me tell you, it was the longest two weeks ever before it arrived! Armed with all your expertise, I was able to get into the game more easily than it would've been otherwise, be it the EQ lingo, map and UI addons, class discussions and the such.

I decided to roll on Antonia Bayle as it had the highest population during what will be my usual play time. Within a few minutes of having finished setting up my character and UI, a kind soul from the Virtue (my apologies for forgetting your name, I did add you to my friends though ) was offering me help and tips to make the most of my experience. What an awesome first impression, thank you kind traveller and Virtue.

This leads me to the question part of this thread;

1) I have spent some time training up my harvesting skills before leaving the starter island; is this recommended, as in, even if I do not wish to become heavily involved in trade skills, and I still benefit from harvesting?

2) how would one go about becoming acquainted with a guild? Everyone seems to busy running around and I wouldn't know who/what is a good guild or a bad guild

Once again, thank you everyone for welcoming me to Norrath

You do want to take up harvesting and keep it at your level or atleast close to it, however I dont think I would start my harvesting on the starter island as there is a good quest line that requires you harvest crazy amounts of stuff in each tir. You will find that harvesting is required for some quests, depending on your class posibly even required for your epic quest weapon. I would feel bad for the person who gets to level 80 with like 20 harvesting skill and find out that they have to harvest some stuff for there epic quest..... Harvesting can also make you some good coin or even save you coin later on. Definatly something you want to take up even if you cant stand doing it... As far as a guild is concerned, press the U button and see who is recruting, and find one of a reasonable level with a decent number of people that are on durring your play time.

Thank you Sennyu for your reply. I'll keep my harvesting skill up then Plus, I find it strangely addictive....

THere is a quest you can get at lvl 5 for harvesting. It starts in Mara ( take the bell from Nek Forest dock). Find Qho Augren in the little pond next to the village. He will give you the starter quest if you are lvl 5. Each step of the quest is to harvest in a different zone, the level of each increases as you progress in the quest line. Each one pays 17+gold so they are worth doing, even if you just do the beginning ones http://eq2.eqtraders.com/articles/a...tr=060000000000 Hehe.. harvesting is Very addictive!!!!!
I am personally a crafter, so I tend to use all the harvests that I collect. I know some people that make a living in game by selling off their harvests to other crafters. It can be quite profitable actually....

As for looking for a guild, the best thing to do it to see what each guild's playstyle is like. Many of the guilds advertise on the Antonia Bayle server forums.... Good luck!
