Ok, I have a strange thing here, for a few month I need to go back to my old laptop (Intel Pentium 4 2.5Ghz Mobile, Geforce 4 420 Go, 1GB Ram, WinXP) and I've played EQ2 on it some years ago so basically it should work. But now after formatting and all with newest DX (9.0c) and drivers (forceware 91.47 oct 2006, latest available for G4 chips, DX9 compatible) and patching it starts the game from the launcher - and zap, windows error, EQ2.exe encountered a problem and needs to close.

Any ideas? And no "buy new hardware" is no option for that time, my normal PC is in a container moving to US on board of a ship and I won't buy new stuff just for the time until it arrives.

I copied the game from my desktop PC to avoid the whole patching from scratch, maybe there are settings from the PC that disturb the game start? Cache I deleted, anything else?

Could you have an AV program or firewall that caused an issue with the install? You can see if your notebook can handle the game by running it against Kingdom of Sky at www.systemrequirementslab.com.

It might be a good idea to post your DXdiag as well for the TSR's or other techies that frequent the boards

Thanks, I will try that. Btw the error code was/is Code: 0xc0000005 and not 0x0000005.

How do I get the dxdiag?

Edit: http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.c...t/analysis.aspx says the geforce4 420 go isn`t working as it has no pixel and vertex shader. Did the requirements change along the way??? It worked for quite some time after release and I just checked the pre-release notes where the chips is listed as compatible. [Removed for Content]. -.-

Not sure if it has changed, but EQ2 does need a card that can use both of those....

[EQ2] Non Supported Video Cards

[EQ2] Minimum Hardware Requirements for EverQuest II

Dx Diag directions can be found here depending on your OS.

Sorry ;(

Greetings,

As mentioned above, the system really shouldn't have been able to run the game using that graphics card. That said, you may be able to get it working with some specific driver combinations. It's just not something we would be able to support directly.

Since you copied the files from one computer to another, I would advise deleting the following files:

cache foldereq2_recent.inieq2_default.iniEverQuest2.exee q2.iniAs well as the character specific files, these will appear as such:Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.iniSt ationname_characters.ini

Those files contain the settings and some basic computer info, so deleting them may help to get the game working.
