I have what might be a very stupid question, but I am pretty ignorant when it comes to computer hardware

I was going to buy a shiny new laptop this weekend when the Bestbuy staff member said they were not sure if the 64 bit processer on the laptop would play EQ2? However, I know several folks who are playing the game on brand new computers so was the staff member correct or can i play EQ2 on the laptop

Thanks

Everquest 2 works fine on both of my 64 bit PCs, with Windows 7 it needed a few tweaks to add some missing files (C++ Redistributable and Direct X 9.0c) , soon as I added those both worked.

The laptop however , depends on the spec of the laptop.

That spec looks fine to me , maybe a tech can comment also.

You won't run everything in ultra high resolution, but as far as I can tell it'll run fine.

One thing though , I've been reading that the P8700 chip runs fairly hot , something you might want to take into account as EQ2 is very processor intensive.

(I was just ready for an upgrade)

I looked at the same HP you have linked..and honestly (to me) it was a toss up between the ASUS and the HP.

The ASUS won... This computer will have significantly higher performance.

Regarding 64-bit vs 32-bit, the game wont see any major benefit from 64-bit, but it will not cause any problems either. Let us know if you have any further questions.
