one of my accounts was hacked recently, the results are absolute nonsense.if all my characters were deleted and i had to ask the gm to roll back things and put it together, i would have made sense of it. some kid hacked the account and stomped around and peed on everything and then took off. whatever. you proved you can use a password script. yay?but what i found was as defiant of anything i understand i just cant even put it together.imagine coming home to your house and finding your door is broken open and inside is an endless pile of precious diamonds, gold bars, and stacks of cash.thats kinda what i found here, on a character that i had grown bored with a year ago and quit playing. Their level was maybe 10 higher then i remember, and loaded up with tons of plat, equipment, etc. Tons of crap on the broker thats still for sale, and just lots of harvested rares.I didnt get the specifics, but it looked like they had only just hacked in a week ago or so, which is approximately about the time I had cancelled the account for the holidays due to budget and general busyness with family and travelling. So even if sony hadn't caught them right away, the account would have lapsed in another week.So whats the point? Is this somebody who just really really likes to play the game but cant afford to anymore? If it was someone farming for plat, why do they need my account to do it? Its like a whole $14/month for an account? Just buy your own and farm plat?

And if your selling plat for real money, who the hell on najena is even going to buy it? Its so easy to make money in this game anymore it doesnt take but a few hours a week to rake it in, why would someone pay money for plat if they dont even have that much time to buy stuff and use it?? And if they dont have the skill to make their own money in this game, what makes them think they wont suck at any other aspect of the game?

I understand that a few years ago people in china, those starving people who would be glad to eat the peas on your plate that you would rather feed to the dog, were desperate to farm wow for money, but to do this now in eq2 of all games? Just none of this makes any [Removed for Content] sense.I'm not really going to be playing much for awhile so this plat is just going to sit there now. Whatever. Do you think maybe they were going to try and sell the character? Now that would have been funny. Maybe it would have made sense but, i mean how many people actually care enough to buy an eq2 character?

[Removed for Content] mod why did you move this?? i wasnt asking for support, the issue is resolved already. I'm asking the community why a person would have done this to my account. Thanks for reading.

Not to sound like don't care that your account was hacked because it is a concern of everyone I know but it sounds like a friend was pulling a prank on you.

Either that or I remember (sorta) when I was on Xanax I used to do some crazy stuff that I didn't remember..it was more like a fuzzy dream, but I didn't care at the time anyway.

HA, yeah and if i had friends that would totally make sense.

Thinking about it, the tech said they somehow knew it was not me logging in. How would they know unless what they determined was that connection came through an ip address in a block that is known for having troubles. Something that traces to russia, china, or india, or just not from the country of origin that the account is registered to. If it was someone that actually knows me, their ip would have been within the same county as mine, and there would be no clear way to know it wasnt me logging in.

Usually when we see this happen, it was caused by one of the following:

1) Account information was shared with a friend or a guild member

2) You purchased a platfarming/powerleveling service and they stored your account/login information

3) Someone hacked your e-mail address and answered your secret question

4) You have some kind of key-logging virus on your computer

Assuming it was a farmer that compromised your account, their usual goal is to take control of an account started by a normal player. That lends some legitimacy to the account, making it easier for them to operate without an immediate ban. It seems whoever did so in this case was unlucky that you returned to the account so quickly.

You mention that you have already corrected the issue, but did you contact us to secure the account? In these cases we like to change the secret question and passwords to prevent the issue from recurring. Let me know if you have any questions.

That is bizarre...absolutely crazy...

Don't be worried about this being moved either. Folks will see the moved link and come here to comment and offer opinions on this.

I can't even begin to know what to say though about what happened...like TSR-DanielH says it's usually one of those things...but...

It's just bizarre.

I am sorry to hear of it happening and especially to a long time player. I would suggest coming up with new passwords for everything. But I am also overly paranoid about passwords and such. Heck, just reading this makes me want to go change my password and hints now.
