View Full Version : City tasks - too hard for solo?

<p>I do admit, I am new to this game so me finding these quests hard now might just be that I'm simply not good enoug in the game yet. But as I've had little trouble with other, similar quests and have ok gear, this has made me wonder.</p><p>I am talking about the writ quests for the city guards and other factions, and specifically those around lvl 35-45. Maybe higher as well, I wouldn't know yet as I'm lvl 42 at the moment. Many of the Qeynos Guard writs consists of going to a level appropriate zone and kill of twenty or so of a particular fiend. That is ok in itself and I've done numerous quests like that. But what I find difficult is that they are often either a) group mobs so you have to kill three or four of them at the same time, b) close to other group mobs that are your level or even higher or c) your target mobs or surrounding mobs are, in addition, Heroic.</p><p>This would make sense if this was a Heroic or Group quest, but these writs are deemed as solo quests. For instance, this quest: We Pruned the Hedges (http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/We_Pruned_the_Hedges) for the Qeynos city guards. It is deemed a level 40 solo quest, but the ones I have to kill are located very far into Feerott so just getting there is a challenge because of all the aggressive group mods. It's deemed lvl 40, but the target is surrounded by lvl 41 and 42 group mobs. I can handle a group of four on my own level, but often you will be targetted by two group mobs, all of them being aggressive and numerous. In another writ, I was supposed to kill off some bears in Zek that were all a group Heroic.</p><p>I am just wondering - are these writs a bit too hard, or is it just me not being too familiar with the game yet?</p>

<p>There are a couple of city writs that are insanely hard. There was one in the sewers under Qeynos I recall that I couldn't do even when a bunch of older guildmates came and mentored to try and help me with it.</p><p>The city writs usually do contain a mix of solo and group oriented quests. My general recommendation is that if you find that the writ is too difficult or frustrating, delete it. When you find one you like better, do that instead a few extra times.</p><p>It probably would not be a bad idea to send in-game /feedback on the problem quest as well, explaining why you think the quest needs to be re-labeled as heroic, not solo.</p>

<p>In the old world zones, the city writs (from Freeport and Qeynos) -still- follow a pattern of the first 5 levels of a teir are solo and the last 5 are heroic (unless their targets were 'down teired'<img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />. Since launch, those quests have not been adjusted unless their target was taken out of game. It's real evident in the 30s and 40s.</p><p>I'm not sure if the Qeynos and Freeport 50s writs have been adjusted since the DoF zones were changed, if not then their targets will have had their levels raised in addition to the alternating solo/heroic.</p><p>Frankly, until you hit the 60+ writs, it's better/easier to take writs in the new cities (Kelethin, Neriak, Garowyn) since they all have solo choices (with some heroic choices which are noted as heroic) for every level range. The Freeport and Qeynos writs do improve to be clearly solo or heroic with choices between for KoS targets and beyond.</p>

<p>Ah, ok. Thanks, guys, it's good to know it's just not me being bad at this game. <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" /> I would prefer to do the Qeynos-writs as that is my hometown, but I guess I can travel to Kelethin and do some there until I hit lvl 50/60, and see if the Qeynos ones have improved.</p>

In Freeport, I usually found that one faction could be done solo and the others are heroic. Except most of the Lava City Tasks. T6 was still asking for the same things but the mobs, at least the one in the bay of Anuk, are still at the same level if I'm not mistaken.

<p>i have an idea.</p><p>those feathers overhead showing "Quest Available" would need new color texture.</p><p>white feathers = Solo</p><p>green feathers = Heroic</p><p>red feathers = 2x / 4x epic kill task</p><p>yellow feathers = long adventure quest chains</p><p>blue feathers = repeatables</p>

<p>I second that. I think that was a very good idea, Tyrus. Although, the problem here is that the quests are marked as lvl 40 solo, when in reality you are dealing with lvl 41-43 groups, some even Heroic.</p>
