Hi all,

I need some help sorting out a few things here. I have been around a long time but have never really 'seriously' played before. As such I have some questions.

1. Auto Attack. This was a thing of myth to me... Does it really make a difference if you let the auto attack play out then cast, then auto attack? If so, how on earth do i know when auto attack is happening? and when NOT to attack? Also, I see that people often say that they have 4 second weapons in each hand - Is this really a better way than having 2.3 second weapons that do the same/more damage?) Please folks.. I'm a complete noob when it comes to this, baby step me through it so my 6 year old could understand Thx.

2. Primary Stats! Holy cow this is a tricky one. After reading this forum (and trust me i read a LOT of posts) I am more confused than ever! One recent post, that states the poster is a regular user of these boards with a trouby of 80th level says that our prime stats are STR and INT! Yet that doesn't marry up with what anyone else says.. Some say we can ignore AGI, while others say its important for avoidance... Some say STR is our PRIMARY stat, while others say STR and STA are equal! PLEASE HELP!! What stats are best, and why? I am currently working on STR and AGI... Although I think I already see this is wrong...

3. I am doing my best to understand all the abbreviations on the forum.. Some posts read like a foreign language, I'd dearly love to be able to understand them! So this question, is simply.. How can I go about learning the mechanics of how and why troubs work? How do 'I' Learn what all those abreviations mean, and how being buffed correctly can make me a better player?.. How do I go about learning how to increase my DPS.. ETC ETC ETC... I know the answer is read these forums, trust me i get that.. But when 80% of the posts are so technical that they make little sense, how can I even start to decipher all this info?

And Lastly. Whats everyones thoughts on deity choice?

Thanks all.. Your time is appreciated.

Different people have different ways of doing things, or different ways of playing their character. For instance if you are new to the game and you are just starting a Troubador and you are leveling up then Agility and Int would be your best stats to focus on. Agility increases your chance to dodge, therefore while leveling solo you would get hit a lot less, and therefore take less damage. Int increases your spell damage, and increases your max power, which you use to cast your attacks/spells.

If you are a pure raiding bard at the 80th level, and do mostly groups and hardly ever solo then you would want to focus on Strength, because Strength increases your melee damage, or the damage you do with your weapons. and Int because it increases your spell damage and max power. Agility would not be that useful at high level unless you were soloing, if the tank in the group is doing his job you should not be taking damage unless it's from aoe.

At some point you are always going to have to auto attack anyway because you are going to run out of melee hits/combos to use, while they are coming of a timer you will just stand there and auto attack with your daggers/swords. I wouldn't worry so much about the auto attack. mainly focus on getting behind the target you are fitting, and focus on heroics and learn how to string your attacks together to maximize damage.

Your Epic/Myth has 4.0 second delay and you REALLY dont want to mix in an offhand with a different delay as this will make any timing of auto attack totally impossible.

My personal opinion as a raiding Troub is definitely primary stats are STR/INT to maximise mellee and spell damage. Go take a look at your upcoming shard armor and see what it gives you. Remember you can see T1/2 on the vendor in Moors, T3 on the docks in lavastorm and T4 on the vendor next to the mender in Moors.

As to timing Auto attacks, I may get flamed for this but considering how fast most troub spells/CAs cast there is very little issue with a spell delaying an Auto Attack swing, lamentations might be the only one which has a very long cast. Get hold of 12 tone earstone which drops from Master P'Tasa in Shard of Hate ASAP. Get bump from your AA line, then macro Bump with Nightstrike. Not only will this get you 23s odd off nearly every mob you hit with it, it procs Silence's echo increasing cast speed and range. Just what you need.

Try out new specs, spell rotations using a training dummy if you are in a guild that has one, or go to the wall next to the monks in Kunzar Jungle. This has an equally high number of hitpoints and doesnt fight back.

Get Perfection of the Maestro and Aria of Magic mastered using the Research Assistant as soon as you can. Remember to use Jesters Cap on yourself after casting POTM to get faster reuse. This is also a good time to use the bump/nightstrike that i mentioned above. If you are in a group/raid, use that faster casting speed to get the debuffs in

AA wise, make sure you maximise INT to get Dont Kill the Messenger, then work on getting Rhythm Blade, Double Attack and Poison proc. Sorry cant remember which is from which line

As for deity, war is good if you are evil, also Anashti. The choice for gooddies isnt as wide.

i'll let you into a secret, I hated my Troub whilst i was levelling him, even after I hit 80 i wasnt convinced. Once you get your epic and T2 shard armor he turned into quite a powerhouse. Get Upbeat Tempo from the end TSO AA line and any group will take you anywhere. This will get you geared up. I am now in an Avatar Raid Guild which is consistently in the top 10 Worldwide and i would go back for anything. The world is your oyster Good luck and happy Troubing.

Tuvogg

Troubadour of Validus, Splitpaw.
