Salutations.

I played EverQuest for several years and then I tried EverQuest II when it first shipped, due to real life issues and all of that fun jazz, I ended up letting my accounts lapse. With downtime over the holidays, I had hoped to pick up EverQuest II amongst a few other games, to have something to do before the New Year.

However, after purchasing the Rise of Kunark starter pack from Steam, I am unable to log into the game.

Whenever I try to play, it informs me that I must attach a payment method to my game, which is either a Pre-Paid Card or a Credit Card. I checked the local BestBuy, but they did not have any Pre-Paid Cards with a 30 Day Duration available, so I decided to up it with my Visa-Debit Card.

Whenever I try to plug the information in, it provides the following response...

We're Sorry. Unfortunately, your payment provider was unable to complete this purchase. These issues can be common with some payment providers. Please retry your purchase, or if issues persist, contact your payment provider directly to resolve this issue. You may also reattempt your purchase with a different method of payment. (Error: PT-104)

...which is odd, considering that the same card has supported WoW, Aion, EVE, and a few other games in the recent months. Is there a way around this? It would be a shame if I spent the money to purchase the game and then were never able to actually connect due to an archaic system.

If this is not fixed in a timely fashion, I would like to reverse the purchase charge of the game.

I managed to get into contact with my bank and they do not support the method of payment that Sony currently requires, something about the small-sum transfer back and forth that Sony uses to validate whether an account is legit or not.

So I used PayByCash as the sticky on this page advises, yet it says that my payment will not be processed until January 5th-6th. When does my 30 Days of Free time begin? After my first payment? Has it already?

I attempted to get into contact with the PayByCash service using email, to ask why my payment has not been processed and received a response that the email they provide ([email protected]) is no longer in service...

Needless to say, I am a bit concerned, as I gave out sensitive information via the recommendation of this site and I have yet to receive a service or even be able to contact customer services... ugh.

Greetings,

The free period will activate as soon as you add a game card or a subscription plan. So, if you added a 30 day game card then it would be like adding 60 days to the account.

Regarding paybycash, how they deliver the card to you depends on the method of payment. Usually they can send the game card code to your e-mail but with some payment sources they need to mail the physical card. I'm not sure what to say about their support e-mail, though. I have been suggesting them as a alternative option for quite a while now and never heard any complaints about their service. That said, my account is exempt so I never interact with them directly.

Well, thank you for answering my question.

I tried to get through to PayByCash today, but was unable to do so.

The direct debit 'eCheck' cleared my bank and the money was deducted, yet I was never given a code to activate my game.

Regardless, that issue is between that business and I now, I suppose. So I hope to see Norrath sometime soon.

I read this posting while looking up the PT-104 error. I've been an off and on member since August 6, 2005 and never had such an error before with my bank.

In response to this topic I've debited my account to play this weekend and received this:

"Reminder: Star Wars Galaxies requires your eCheck (one-time direct debit) payment to clear before service is granted, which will take 6 business days. Your payment is scheduled to clear on March 28, 2011. You will receive an email confirmation when this payment clears.

We cannot cancel or revoke this transaction."

I have to wait nine freakin days now? There was no posting about waiting this many days so the 'reminder' was BS and I will have changed my mind by the time I can enter .........
