The difference between races is very small. Take whatever looks you prefer.

For deity, I suggest going for Rodcet Nife.

I went Woodelf, and am looking over the different wis pets available.

Sure, Rodcet may be conisidered the best choice for a healer...but I just don't care for how...over zealous...the whole thing was when RN was being reintroduced.

Anyhow...maybe these links will help.

http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Traditions

http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Gods

Even tho racial traditions and deity pets are considered to not make much of a difference, I find that looking the traditions, gods, and pets over can help figure out what race and deity to go with. Sometimes something just stands out to you.

Regardless of what you choose, it will not either [Removed for Content] or overpower your character. The differences are small.

I know that Barbarians are "considered" one of the "healer" races. Karana and Rodcet are two fairly good "healer" gods.

I went with a kerran initially before the racial traditions change as I liked the claw melee attack that was then. I'm ok with the racial changes that took place, I lost a melee attack but I gained tracking.

If I were to reroll I would stay with a kerran or one of the elf races that gets tracking. As far as profession goes I don't think it matters that much although I would definitely pick a tinker. There are a ton of cool tinker toys like feign death and such that compliment any class tbh.

Blah, didn't see the profession question. >_<

Sage, to make your own spells, imho. You could go Armourer for your chain, but the savings on the spells would be higher, I think.

My own is a Woodworker, but I already have a Sage.

I am a Kerra, follower of Quellious, and way back when she was a kitten I chose Provisioner, however I too would suggest Sage as our spells seem to have a low drop rate and truly they are much better at Expert. Kerra? I love them, simple enough and I was on a elf revolt (everyone was an elf when the game launched), also once upon a time starting stats mattered. (Actually a lot of stuff mattered back then, but then I am one of those nuts that wishes they did not nerf so much - bring back the random epics!) Quellious was not only for RP reasons, but that Rodecet was not available when I decided on a god, not sure if Karana was either. Arbreth is a Healer, the only reason I have anything in the combat arts part of the AA tree is to beef up Puppy as frankly he is my DPS most times (and to use up the points - heh). Most of her AA is in Healing/Warding (no, I am a slacker and don't use a mirror for two specs, she is what she is and has been since I created her in December 2004).

My boyfriend has his Mystic (a Halfling by the way) follow Rodecet and she is a Woodworker (he already had a Sage in the works). Seraphinia is a battle Mystic first though he has a mirror spec for healing that is close to mine. His choice of god was partly RP, partly to make up for the fact she wields a massive hammer with glee and sometimes needs to heal.

Tinker - oh yes. Though you may want to see what Domino has in store for the T&T's first.

These days choose the class that you feel comfortable playing and looking at, and I suggest that you choose a craft that you will like in the long run. If you love to decorate, make a carpenter, want to write a million books, pick Sage (as a bonus create your own spells). Find crafting a challenge? Then Provisioner as you wont be so frustrated by never actually making anything (Provies dont fail, they just make less).

I need to take another look at the deities because it's been a while. I've been lazy about doing so because the Tunare miracle, Growth's Blessing, works wonders for me. Tunare's blessings aren't really that great for a mystic. I use forest spirit, but I've never really tracked how productive it is. TBH, I think that these blessings and miracles do more for me mentally than actual heal parse wise. Something about knowing that I've thrown everything but the kitchen-sink at the encounter makes me more aggressive mentally.

I think Rodcet has something similar to Growth's Blessing that is a damage-based proc, but, again, I just haven't had the real need to change.
