Hi I posted this elsewhere then just noticed the support forums section so I'll repost here.

My friend from EQ1 wants to try the EQ2 free trial but when she clicks on the free trial it asks her to sign up for a new account and there's no way of choosing "use an existing account". Someone suggested signing in and THEN clicking on the FREE TRIAL button. But apart from having serious trouble with the sign in button just refreshing the page and not taking you to the sign in page, when it eventually does take you to the sign in page and you type in your account info it doesn't then take you to a free trial page - it takes you to the "choose your subscription 1, 3, 6 or 12months" page. There seems to be some problems with where the website directs you. She will likely sign up for the Station ALL access pass so she can play EQ1 AND EQ2, if she likes EQ2 but to do that she HAS to sign up for the free trial using the same account but it won't let her do that.

Is there anyway to sign up for the eq2 free trial using an existing eq1 station account?

And if so, how? Because it's not working

Greetings,

Based on your description, it sounds like the account already received some free trial time as part of the Living Legacy Promotion. About a year and a half ago we had a promotion where old EQ1 accounts received Everquest 2 along with some free game time. If the person you're helping had an old EQ1 account then this seems likely. You may want to try contacting our support line through phone or chat support so that we can try to work around this issue for you. The following link contains our contact information:

http://help.station.sony.com/cgi-bi...p?p_faqid=10404

It's sorted... Almost. She downloaded the Station Launcher and used that to access the free trial with her existing account and it worked mostly. However she had installed it INSIDE her Program Files folder and I've heard how Vista hates people messing with it's program files folder.

So to salvage the files she's already downloaded we are going to try to COPY and PASTE her SONY/EQ2 folder out of program files folder and put it somewhere more suitable. That would work alright right?

Our only problem to overcome now is that for some reason she's always had trouble opening her control panel. So we are trying to figure a way to access the Add/Remove programs feature to uninstall Station Launcher, before we do the copy paste thing. So we can reinstall the station launcher into the new folder destination outside the program files folder..

By the way.... Why isn't there an option to uninstall the Station Launcher in the start menu like with most things?

Greetings,

Yes, you should be able to simply copy and paste the files from one location to another. Also, you should not need to uninstall the station launcher unless you are having trouble with that application. Simply open the station launcher, select the 'station' option and then choose 'preferences'. If you select Everquest 2 along the left hand side then you can simply use the 'change install location' button to choose the new folder you have the game in. Let us know if you have any questions.

A friend suggested a step further so I'll try that.

Do the copy and paste thing, then use Add/remove programs to uninstall EQ2 - which will hopefully just remove the program files version of it.

Then when I uninstall and reinstall station launcher and direct it to download/install to that copy/pasted destination - the launcher should scan the files there and notice that the game is already installed there and so it won't try to download everything again.
