i have played many mmos, and have never had any issues until, about a week ago i bought eq2, luv it by the way, and i noticed my laptop heating up way too much. In fact, this game works ur processor/graphics/hdd very hard, it got so hot my laptop auto shutdown to protect itself. i downloaded speedfan and my temps were outrageous like 70-80c, after only 20-30 min play. so i decided to crack open my laptop case and see how filthy my fan was........ it was the ATTACK OF THE DUST BUNNIES. so i removed fan used qtips and compressed air to clean it, and the heatsink. now my temp after 2 hrs of playing is only 55c. so if u get random crashes, graphical annomilies, etc...... KILL THE DUST BUNNIES. i hope this helps someone out.

Using a good laptop cooler helps a lot also.

Heh, our area is really dusty in the summer. Once a month I crack open the case on my main box and exterminate the bunnies.

This is a tad off-subject but an interesting observation, I wonder if others have noticed the samething, namely; I have found that indeed certain MMo's and their graphic engines cause graphics cards to work at different rates (even in low settings) In may experience the hottest game - literally - I have ever encountered in the new NCSoft game Aion... u can cook an egg on your laptop after a few hours on that - esp. if you are doing a few fort raids in the Abyss.

Wow I thought I was the only one. The lag was killing me a few months ago and I opened up my cpu to see if my graphics card was dislodged.... but it was just those [Removed for Content] bunnies. I just blew the dust out of my cpu and viola it was all good.

Wonder how many people have quit EQ2 due to crashing problems, not realizing the whole time it was the Dust bunnies fault. Not the games.

Not that many, most of them dont have pc knowledges. It took me awhile to get around mine and it really helpful to know pc background from dos to hardware problems.

It a great game and alot of time to spend on it. Not many have the time to play it though.
